Purpose

Reporting directly to the Associate Vice President of CPS, the Executive Director leads revenue cycle operations including coding and charge capture, billing and collections, and registration services. MCW has been recognized as a national leader in revenue cycle operations and is consistently ranked in the top decile by Vizient Clinical Practice Solutions Center. The incoming Executive Director will lead a dedicated and experienced team of professionals to strategically position the organization for further efficiencies and growth related to the capture, management, and collection of patient service professional fee revenues.

Directs and coordinates the efforts of professional services revenue cycle staff in the management of clinical revenue-producing activities for one or more Group Practices.Develop departmental best practices and policies related to professional services billing activities (registration services, coding & charge capture, and billing and collections).Evaluates and advises on revenue enhancement opportunities, long range planning, new clinical programs/strategies and regulatory actions.Represent professional services revenue cycle in Epic Optimization efforts with Health System Partners.Develops and executes a comprehensive strategy that will deliver:

Cash Collections yield of 100% NPSRReduction in percent of A/R over 90 days oldAvoidable Write off improvementReduction in Gross Days Revenue OutstandingIncremental Net Revenue Enhancement

Maintains key relationships with Practice leadership, clinical department chairs, clinical department administrators, and MCW administration to ensure that customer needs are met.Develops and uses effective monitoring systems to assure standards of performance are met, operating and budget objectives achieved, adherence to regulations, policies, and procedures of MCW and regulatory agencies.Motivates and leads a high-performance management team; attracts, recruits, and retains required members of the management team; provides mentoring as a cornerstone to the management career development program.Leverages technology as a competitive advantage. Develops and/or presents monthly operational performance benchmarking reporting for senior leadership and key partners.Establish personal and professional credibility throughout the MCW. Be an integral member of the management team and a resource across MCW and their partner Froedtert Health.Build on succession planning efforts through the development of short and long-term succession plans.Identify key operational metrics and areas for ongoing focus and additional efficiencies. Continue MCW's "best in class" revenue cycle function in academic medicine as MCW is consistently ranked in the top percentile in revenue cycle performance by Vizient Clinical Practice Solutions Center.Champion proactive customer experience for every patient-facing revenue cycle function throughout span of control.Further a culture of continuous improvement through the training and development activities of all staff and management with an eye on leveraging technology and best practices as a competitive advantage.Develop and ensure that all activities of the Professional Revenue Cycle are performed in accordance with state and federal regulations, mandated collection practices, all regulatory agencies, and are HIPAA compliant.

Preferred Schedule:

Full-time role with expectations for coverage during core business hours and flexibility required as necessary to accommodate business needs.

Position Requirements:

Knowledge - Skills - AbilitiesAn extensive knowledge of professional services revenue cycle operations best practices and well versed in regulatory requirements.Experience in a vital leadership position in a large academic medicine multi-specialty group practice, a large complex medical group, or other various clinical revenue cycle settings is required.Experience and knowledge of clinical operations is essential to understand how to best manage revenue cycle processes often initiated by clinical operations across the organization.Excellent analytical and information system knowledge.Comprehensive knowledge of physician coding, reimbursement system, revenue cycle, including governmental regulatory requirements.Experience with bundled payment methodologies and other alternative reimbursement models.Experience overseeing business functions for large multi-specialty group practice.Outstanding communication skills.Strategic orientation.Customer focused and committed to transparency of the revenue cycle.Commitment to execution and results oriented.Collaborative, consensus, and team builder.Strong ethics and ability to earn trust. Appropriate experience may be substituted for education on an equivalent basis

Minimum Required Education:

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration; Health, Policy, and Administration or equivalent required.Minimum Required Experience:Twelve (12) years of demonstrated hands on success with progressive growth in responsibilities and breadth and depth of experience.An extensive knowledge of professional services revenue cycle operations best practices and well versed in regulatory requirements.Experience in a vital leadership position in a large academic medicine multi-specialty group practice, a large complex medical group, or other various clinical revenue cycle settings is required.Experience and knowledge of clinical operations is essential to understand how to best manage revenue cycle processes often initiated by clinical operations across the organization.Experience working in Epic Resolute PB is required.Preferred Education:Master's in Business Administration or Master's in Healthcare AdministrationPreferred Certification:Epic resolute PB Certification is strongly preferred. Coding Certification (RHIA, RHIT, CPC, CCS-P, or CDIP) strongly preferred.
