As a Software Engineer, you will define and develop embedded software that interacts with other components. You are scrappy and eager to be hands-on in a program’s early stages and willing to evolve as the program moves into production. You will work closely with the product and engineering teams and help hasten our path to market with an exceptional vehicle that redefines RVing.ResponsibilitiesHelp develop Lightship’s ECU firmwareReview code, analyze stability, and manage bugsDefine communication interfaces and requirementsDevelop and execute a software test suite to ensure reliabilityCollaborate with team to define vehicle embedded systems architectureCollaborate with team to help select hardware for vehicle controlsOptimize software by performing maintenance, updates, and upgradesAssess third party and open source softwareKeep up to date with relevant software standards and advancements in embedded system developmentMinimum QualificationsBS or above in computer science, electrical/computer engineering, or related fieldMinimum 3 years experience developing softwareProven experience in embedded systems software development, including preemptive, real-time architecturesIn-depth knowledge of CAN bus or similar communication protocolProficiency coding in C/C++Understanding of microprocessors and associated peripheralsPreferred QualificationsKnowledge of C compliant languages such as Java and PythonKnowledge of Linux operating systemsExperience deploying software across a variety of platformsAbility to read schematics and component data sheetsYou enjoy developing software and create value by solving problemsYou bring an entrepreneurial mindset to your work and are comfortable with uncertaintyEquityLightship compensation consists of the yearly salary above plus equity, which gives you a stake in the company.$120,000 - $170,000 a yearOnsite/Hybrid WorkHybrid roles at Lightship require onsite work from our offices Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Tuesdays and Fridays are optional work from home days, when your work will be executed more successfully from home.
