The primary purpose of the Operations Manager at Courtyard Newark Downtown is to ensure that guests and associates have an excellent experience at our properties by supporting all facets of the operation and managing financial performance of the hotel.

Responsibilities

Turn in all paperwork in a timely manner with precision and exactnessEnsure any irregularities are recorded in appropriate locations and brought to the attention of the GM and/or corporate officeCreate and maintain a strong team with great cohesivenessEnsure brand and MCR standards are met and documentedMotivate the team to drive revenueEffectively execute and maintain all front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and F&B logisticsInspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standardsPlan and prepare employee work schedulesPerform or assist with cleaning duties as neededCoordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely mannerCheck equipment to ensure that it is in working orderInspect and evaluate the physical condition of the rooms and determine maintenance needsImplement operational standards and procedures for the departmentRecommend changes that could improve service and increase operational efficiencyAdvise the front office of rooms ready for occupancyDemonstrate brand citizenship by maintaining compliance with all required brand standards, behaviors, hallmarks, and license agreement mandates. This includes passing all brand Quality Assurance Audits and Local InspectionsDrive improvement in guest satisfaction goals. Collaborate with hotel team members to establish and implement services and programs that meet or exceed guest expectationsInteract with guests, solicit feedback, and build relationships. Effectively respond to guests regarding service challengesUse technology platforms to drive guest experience scoresEnsure a safe and secure environment for guests, team members, and hotel assets in compliance with the hotel or owner’s policies and procedures and regulatory requirementsEnhance the hotel’s reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests and exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments

Requirements

Minimum of 1-year experience as a manager in the hotel industry requiredExperience with the Brand a strong plusKnowledge of the Greater Regional Industry-Wide AgreementMust be highly motivated, self-directed, with strong initiative and desire for achievementExceptional customer service skills requiredMust possess strong computer skillsExcellent communication and presentation skillsMust be a leader, a driver, and guest service orientedA can-do attitude and a hands-on approachA flexible schedule that allows availability days, nights, holidays, and weekends based on the demands of the hotel
