We’re hiring a Network / Server Engineer to support the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center in Glynco, GA near Brunswick, GA. In this position you’ll become part of technically diverse team to include but not limited to Help Desk Specialists, Network Engineers, System Administrators, and Database Professionals. Together this team provides IT Operations and Support to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) which is responsible for training Law Enforcement Professionals from over 90 different agencies.Position Responsibilities:Perform engineering, design, implementation, and maintenance tasks on the network and within the server environment.Identify, review, and recommend security postures to peers and appropriate security teams.Troubleshoot and resolve complex network problems.Install hardware such as routers, firewalls, wireless, and switches.Install and upgrade computer components and software, manage virtual servers, and integrate automation processes.Troubleshoot hardware and software errors by running diagnostics, documenting problems and resolutions, prioritizing problems, and assessing impact of issuesProvide documentation and technical specifications to IT staff for planning and implementing new or upgrades of IT infrastructure.Perform or delegate regular backup operations and implement appropriate processes for data protection, disaster recovery, and failover procedures. Complete backups and data retention of servers and systems. Recover and restore data.Provide support for File and Print ServersServer health checksServer monitoring and reportingInstall operating system patches, upgrades, restores, etc.Install application Software patches and releases as needed.Provide after-hours remote and on-call support to respond to server outages.Requirements3+ years of comparable experienceUnderstanding of Cisco switching and routingUnderstanding of Aruba NetworksStrong understanding of IPv6, IPv4, and dual stackingStrong understanding of OSPF routing protocolExcellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilitiesExcellent written and verbal communication skills using the English languageBachelor’s degree in computer science or a closely related field; Experience may substitute for DegreePrefer candidates with one or more of the following certification: MCSE, CCNA (Cisco) and ACSA, ACSP, or ACSX (Aruba Networks) switching certificatesSecurity Qualifications:No security clearance required; Secret Clearance PreferredMust be a US CitizenMust pass a Federal Law Enforcement Background InvestigationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, ancestry, color, family or medical care leave, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, national origin, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, protected veteran status, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances.
