We’re hiring for a Linux System Administrator to work at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA. In this position you’ll become part of a technically diverse team to include but not limited to other Help Desk Specialists, Network Engineers, System Administrators, and Database Professionals. Together this team provides IT Operations and Support to the Federal Law Enforcement Training Agency which is responsible for training Law Enforcement Professionals from over 90 different agencies.Position Responsibilities:Installation, configuration, and maintenance of Linux environments; To include RHEL Versions 8 and 9, CentOS, Ubuntu, Apache, NginxCreate backups for internal and customer systemsDesign and execute disaster recovery scenarios for enterprise applicationsProactively manage and monitor servers’ performance, system logs, storage, network activities, and security components for optimal uptime and performancePerform Linux Server hardening and firewall configuration including Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG’s) in accordance with Federal regulationsTroubleshoot and resolve technical issuesUtilize scripting languages like Bash, Shell, Perl, Python as well as tools like Ansible, Puppet, or Chef to develop and implement automation and toolsets for system administration, configuration management, and deployment automation. Continuously improve automation scripting and processes to enhance efficiency and reduce manual interventionTrain and support the next generation of system administratorsPerform other job duties as required/assignedRequirements:4 years of experience working as a Linux System Administrator specifically with Red Hat Enterprise Linux and CentOS.Excellent problem-solving skills and analytical abilitiesExperience with security hardening practices and applying STIGs. Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices from a system administration perspectiveExperience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and scripting languages (Bash, Shell, Perl, Python)Proven ability to design and administer systems based on project and client requirementsExcellent written and verbal communication skills using the English languageBachelor’s Degree with an emphasis on Information Technology; Experience may be considered in lieu of the DegreePrefer candidates with a Linux Certification such as: CompTIA Linux+, RHCSA, RHCE or LPIC-2 (or greater)Security Qualifications:No security clearance required; Secret Clearance PreferredMust be a US CitizenMust pass a Federal Law Enforcement Background InvestigationAll qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to age, ancestry, color, family or medical care leave, gender identity or expression, genetic information, marital status, medical condition, national origin, physical or mental disability, political affiliation, protected veteran status, race, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, or any other characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations and ordinances.
