to cultivate relevant connections and belonging with other colleaguesDynamic work model – a hybrid model of at least 3 days in-office collaborationExperience, skills and competencies that lend themselves to this role:We know that experience comes in all forms and we’re not necessarily looking for individuals who can start fast (‘check all the boxes’) but may bring a unique blend of competence and capabilities that can grow into a role and/or bring news skills to the team.Overview:We are looking for JUNIOR COUNSEL based in Stamford, Connecticut office to lead various legal and compliance initiatives in the United States.Reporting to the Head of Legal Affairs for North America, this crucial role will partner with various collaborators across the Beiersdorf business to protect and grow the brand.ResponsibilitiesSupport commercial functions including but not limited to marketingReviews marketing materials, artwork claims, and company communications (digital, social media, television, and print) for compliance with laws and regulations (e.g. FTC, FDA, NAD, Cosmetic Regulations, MOCRA)Liaises with internal and external collaborators regarding BDF’s intellectual property portfolio, websites, domains, content clearance in the U.S.Collaborates with Beiersdorf’s Global legal teams for intellectual property and brand protectionWork closely with commercial teams to ensure understanding of the business in order to provide legal advice or assist with escalating/proactively addressing topicsPartner cross-functionally, with global legal colleagues to support various project initiativesDrafts and negotiates a high volume of various commercial contracts (e.g. commercial, marketing, etc.)Drafts contract templates and other legal documents including but not limited to working within global group standards and global framework agreementsStay abreast of any applicable changes in regulations, laws, as well as legal challenges occurring in similarly situations industries and update legal with relevant developmentsAssists with audits and other risk management initiativesAssists with any potential/pending litigation or disputes as neededSupport Mergers and Acquisitions and post-merger integrations on topics such as contracts and data transfersAssists with management the contract library and any applicable contract databases, including uploading and tracking of documentsAssist with administration of contract lifecycle management database and contract routingAssist with Corporate Housekeeping matters as neededAssist with compliance program, trains colleagues on legal and company policies when necessary, and tracks and reportsTrack legal costs, and process invoices, purchase orders etc. for deptPerform administrative duties including organizing the department budget, leading and maintaining digital and/or physical files, submitting and filing paperwork.Assist with externship recruiting and supporting interns and law clerksProvide assistance with other company initiativesAssist with other matters and provide coverage for North America Legal department as neededQualifications:Doctorate of Jurisprudence (J.D.) from an accredited law schoolA member, in good standing of a U.S. State Bar with the ability to practice law in Connecticut or eligible for the Connecticut In-House Counsel Bar1-2 years of experience as Legal Counsel or in a similar position in the legal department of an international corporationSpecialized knowledge of the, marketing law and business law topicsAbility to spot legal issues across subject areas and facilitate conversations with the right subject matter authorities to ensure the delivery of comprehensive, actionable legal counsel to collaboratorsExperience with drafting, reviewing, and negotiating complex contractsExperience with advertising laws/regulations and intellectual propertyKnowledge and experience of North American legal system, rules and regulationsConsumer products or in-house counsel experience strongly preferredExcellent oral and written communication skills in EnglishStrong, clear, concise communication skills that can adapt based on the audiencePositive team member and active contributor in a team environmentCollaborative, pro-active, solution-oriented approachStrong PowerPoint and presentation skillsStrong negotiation and facilitation skillsAble to perform administrative tasks as neededExcellent time management skills to handle multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneouslyStrong attention to detail, responsive and well organizedMust be pro-active and have creative problem solving skillsThe ability to travel domestically and internationally (
