Target Salary Range: $180,100 - $234,100

Summary

Atlanta Housing Authority (AH) is seeking an experienced and visionary Senior Vice President, Communications, Marketing, and Public Engagement to lead our strategic communication efforts. In this role, you’ll be at the forefront of transformative initiatives that impact communities and drive progress across the city of Atlanta. You’ll be the architect of our narrative—a master storyteller who weaves compelling tales that resonate with both internal and external stakeholders. This leadership position manages a team yet requires direct execution in addition to strategic oversight and development of the team. This position reports directly to the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Strategic Vision:

You’ll shape our communication strategy, aligning it with our 5-year strategic goals. From revitalizing neighborhoods to fostering community pride, your ideas will leave an indelible mark across the city.

Media Maestro:

With deep-rooted relationships in Atlanta’s media landscape, you’ll drive meaningful coverage of the many stories waiting to be unearthed and told through press conferences, op-eds, media briefings and impactful interviews.

Barrier Breaker:

You’ll strategize your way around obstacles, turning them into opportunities to unleash bold ideas.

Inspiring Teams:

Your track record of execution and team inspiration will be one of your greatest strengths in this role. You will foster a culture of mentorship, collaboration, and creativity, fueling your team’s pursuit for even higher levels of excellence.

Internal Champions : You’ll champion internal communications, ensuring our many internal stakeholders- from our board of directors to our program beneficiaries, are informed, engaged, and aligned.

Executive Visibility:

You optimize the value of our executive voices and elevate our leaders’ profiles in service to our organizational objectives. Leadership drives culture and through your engagement strategies, our internal and external stakeholders will recognize that the culture of AH is innovative, urgent, and families-forward.

Education / Experience

Master’s Degree or higher from an accredited educational institution.

10+ years of related managerial/leadership experience 10+ years in communications, crisis management, public relations, or related programs.

Relationships : Established or comfort establishing relationships across sectors with local, regional, and national media outlets, civic leaders, and influencers

Passion : A drive to tell compelling stories with measurable impact, specifically around Atlanta’s affordable housing solutions and the difference AH is making in the lives of Atlanta families

Knowledge & Skill Requirements

Media Strategies:

Develop and execute communication strategies aligned with organizational goals.

Evolve and socialize best practices to inform media strategies.

Amplify strategic announcements and key narratives.

Extend brand reach through new and targeted media verticals.

Internal Communications:

Foster effective communication within the organization.

Ensure consistent messaging across departments and teams.

Facilitate employee engagement through clear and transparent communication channels.

Support the development of communications assets for the Executive Office and cross-functional leaders throughout the organization

Marketing Functions:

Collaborate with AH teams to align communication efforts with brand and promotional activities.

Leverage communication channels and resources for memorable marketing campaigns and promotion of key initiatives and programs which drive the AH strategic narrative

Executive Visibility:

Support media and community engagement preparation and activity for designated AH executives

Crisis Preparedness:

Ensure adequate crisis response communications preparedness.

Working Conditions

Works in an office environment. May require frequent bending, stooping, reaching and prolonged sitting and/or standing. Frequent local travel which necessitates a valid State of Georgia driver’s license and be fully insurable for the purpose of obtaining clearance on company “Authorized Drivers List.” Lifting not to typically exceed 10-20 pounds.
