Our goal is to make epigenetics research accessible and to ensure consistent data in every experiment.Founded in 2003, the Group is headquartered in Liège (Belgium), with subsidiaries in Denville (NJ, USA).For its Epigenetics division, Diagenode is looking for a highly motivated Biopharma Business Development Manager, West Coast with experience in the epigenetics/ life sciences market, to expand our epigenomic services business. This role will focus on promoting the services portfolio, targeting the biotech and pharmaceutical market segments.This role will require you to travel at least 35% of the time.RoleWe are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic, tenacious, and commercially focused professional to strategically expand and manage our existing services business through partnering and promoting the business, while also managing and enhancing ongoing business relationships in the West Coast territory. If you possess a combination of industry, market, and leadership skills, as well as the ability to be successful in a fast-paced and technologically progressive environment, this is a perfect opportunity for you.ResponsibilitiesDevelop and implement successful strategies and tactics to sell epigenomics lab services on the West CoastDevelop high-level relationships with leaders in the basic research, biomarker, and pre-clinical drug development space to establish a footprint for DiagenodeCapitalize on existing relationships in the life sciences space within the West Coast territoryIdentify, cultivate, manage, and maintain new and existing business relationships within biopharma, incubators/accelerators, and academic hubs (R&D/Clinical) within the West Coast territory to drive business growthProactively prospect for new service opportunities within existing accountsDevelop new business opportunities/strategic partnerships through direct contacts, trade shows, referrals, etc.Organizational awareness: work cross-functionally with Territory Account Managers, Marketing, and Tech Support teams; serve as the West Coast vertical leader to ensure structured executionIdentify and track customer needs, working collaboratively with internal resources to enhance customer satisfactionCollect and leverage customer insights to promote further account pipeline developmentKeep abreast of trends & new developments in epigenetics and genomics (publications: GenomeWeb, 360DX, clinicaltrials.org, etc.) and building change into effective business strategiesProvide rigor around CRM updates, expense reporting, and other required business processesTrack and report weekly progress of sales and key opportunities to the Global Sales ManagerInherent motivation to develop technical expertise (learning from our R&D and technical support team)Required Qualifications5+ years of experience in business development, selling to biotech and pharmaceutical industry (molecular testing services), familiarity with epigenetics preferred; focus on proactive new business generation on mid-tier pharmaceutical and biotech companies in the West CoastProven track record in identifying market trends and establishing action plans that capitalize on the trends to increase sales, and drive business growth.Leadership mentality in context of broader team effortStrong planning and organizational skills; rigorous and independent with an entrepreneurial spirit, strong customer focus, and business acumenExcellent negotiation, prospecting and networking skills, with strong relationship management abilities and ability to navigate in highly complex environments like pharma companies in order to identify key stakeholdersFinancial, costing, and budgeting skills for measuring, monitoring and reporting business metricsStrong interpersonal skills; emotional intelligence, intellectual integrity, and personal trustworthinessEffective communicator, with the ability to develop, deliver and facilitate impactful presentations, along with possessing poise and professional in individual and group settings.Ability to deal with ambiguity, prioritization, and multi-tasking; learning agility, flexibility, and adaptabilityComfortable working cross-functionally in a highly-matrixed environmentExperience with contact management database software, and MS OfficeAdvanced degree in life sciences preferredLocationThis role is located on the West Coast; ideally, close to scientific hubs and major airport (s).Our offerHologic offers a job with a lot of developmental potential in a growth-oriented environment and a unique company culture.The total compensation range for this role is $130,000 - $200,000. This is based on a base salary and commission plan combination.
