The Director of Sales is responsible for the daily sales efforts and the overall positioning of the hotel, brand communication, and the development of customers for the property including rooms, dining outlets, and event space. In addition, they are responsible for rental revenue, yield strategies, implementation, market performance, and meeting budget, forecast, and optimal business mix targets. Strategies will include pricing, status, direct sales, market mix, marketing, and public relations. Candidates must have a dynamic leadership style, possessing excellent communication and decision-making skills and an astute business acumen.Principal Responsibilities:Prepares Sales Reports and Annual Sales & Marketing PlanCreates effective Sales Programs that will increase awareness and positive perception of the Hotel, its activities, culinary services, and personnelAbility to access, understand, and accurately input information using a moderately complex computer systemAssist General Manager in preparation of the marketing, advertising, sales plans, programs, and annual budget; manages within approved plans and budgetsDevelop rates, group sales deployment strategies through review of competitive data, demand analysis, and mix managementAbility to effectively listen, communicate and perform diplomacy with internal and external customers and staff in all situationsAbility to stand and move throughout the hotel property and continuously perform essential job functionsDevelop awareness and reputation of the hotel and the brand in the local communityDirect and manage all group, transient, and banquet sales activities to maximize revenue for the hotelPrepare, implement, and compile data for the strategic sales plan, monthly reports, annual goals, sales and marketing budget, forecasts, and other reports as directed/requiredPerform other duties as assignedQualifications:Previous Director of Sales experience preferredPrevious Hotel Sales experience requiredPrevious lifestyle hotel experience a plusKnowledge of the travel industry, current market trends, and economic factorsExtensive skill in the development and delivery of sales presentationsProven track record in prospecting for new business and savvy at closing the dealMust be able to make quick decisions and work in a hectic and diverse work environmentStrong ability to prioritize, organize, and manage competing prioritiesPossess well-developed leadership and problem-solving skillsMust be able to build and maintain business relationshipsExcellent/Above-average reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language required.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this jobReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functionsWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and talk or hearThe employee is frequently required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smellThe employee must regularly lift and or move up to 25lbs - occasionally lift or move up to 50lbsSpecific vision abilities required by this job include peripheral vision and depth perception
