A law firm in San Mateo, CA, is seeking an experienced Civil Litigation Associate Attorney to manage and oversee all aspects of litigation files independently. This role involves handling complex civil litigation matters, including drafting pleadings, conducting discovery, preparing for trials, and overseeing support staff. The firm offers competitive compensation, benefits, and opportunities for professional development.Job Duties:Independently manage day-to-day file handling and oversee support staff, including paralegals and assistants.Conduct initial case analysis and investigation, including written status reporting and case strategy development.Draft and prepare pleadings, motions, and trial documents such as motions for summary judgment, discovery requests, and case management conference statements.Conduct legal research, draft memoranda, and prepare briefs.Prepare clients for depositions and conduct or defend depositions of parties and experts.Attend and represent clients at court hearings, case management conferences, and alternative dispute resolution proceedings.Utilize legal software for document management, billing, and electronic filing in federal courts.Collaborate with partners and other associates on trial preparation and strategy.Requirements:Member in good standing of the California State Bar.Graduated from an accredited law school.Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal environment, preferably in civil litigation.Strong knowledge of civil procedure, evidence, and trial litigation practices.Experience with public entity defense, automobile and premises liability defense, and commercial general liability defense preferred.Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook), Clio or other Case Management Software, Acrobat, legal billing software, and HotDocs.Familiarity with California Personal Injury Liens, Medicare, or Howell procedures.Excellent writing and communication skills.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Education:Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.Competitive salary based on experience with performance-based bonus incentives.Minimum billable hours requirement of 1550 hours annually.Benefits package includes 401(k) with match, profit-sharing pension plan, medical benefits, supplemental dental and vision insurance, life and disability insurance, vacation, sick leave, and reimbursement for continuing education.Company info
