A law firm in Edina, MN is seeking a Community Association Law Attorney with significant experience in community association law. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in handling matters related to covenants and bylaws, rules and regulations, and collections, including lien enforcement and foreclosure. The candidate should possess confidence in their practice area, along with excellent communication, writing, and critical-thinking skills.Job Responsibilities:Advise community associations on governance issues, including drafting and amending covenants, bylaws, and rules.Assist associations in enforcing covenants and rules, including initiating enforcement actions.Handle collection matters for unpaid assessments, including lien enforcement and foreclosure actions.Represent community associations in administrative hearings and litigation.Provide legal counsel on compliance with state and federal laws affecting community associations.Draft and negotiate contracts on behalf of community associations.Conduct legal research and provide opinions on complex legal issues affecting community associations.Educate board members and management on legal rights and responsibilities.Requirements:Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.Admission to the Minnesota State Bar in good standing.Significant experience practicing community association law, including covenants, rules, and collections.Strong knowledge of state and federal laws impacting community associations.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Exceptional critical-thinking and analytical skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.Confidence in advising and representing clients in community association matters.Preferred Skills:Experience with real estate transactions involving community associations.Familiarity with alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation and arbitration.Membership in relevant professional organizations, such as the Community Associations Institute (CAI).
