The Senior Buyer leads and trains student assistants as assigned.Duties and Responsibilities:Exchanges professional information with District and college staff, vendors, contractors, and othersDevelops and confirms product specifications and quality expectationsPrepares bid specifications and analyzes bid resultsAttends professional development meetings and workshopsAdministers procurement card program and other procurement toolsReviews and issues purchase ordersUses computer software for data analysis and administrative tasksComposes correspondence and prepares announcementsMaintains online purchasing resource pagesDevelops training materials and provides training to staffParticipates in District-wide committeesPerforms other related duties as assignedMinimum Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in business administration or a closely related field OR an equivalent combination of education and experienceSuccessful work experience in purchasing and volume buying, bid analysis, and procurementWorking knowledge of bidding, public contract code, and purchasing policiesDemonstrated cultural competence and sensitivity to diverse backgroundsExcellent oral and written communication skillsAdvanced skills in Microsoft Office SuiteSkills in training and leading othersKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of purchasing standards and professional practicesSkills in written and oral communication, project management, and use of software toolsAbility to plan, organize, and implement projects, work effectively in a team, and understand the value of competitionPhysical Requirements:This position requires oral and written communication, data analysis, logical thinking, and the ability to work in team settings.
