The College and the District:College of San Mateo (CSM) is part of the San Mateo County Community College District and is a Hispanic Serving Institution and Asian American Native American Pacific Islander Serving Institution. The college enrolls approximately 15,000 students each academic year.

The Position:Position PurposeThe Vice President of Student Services is an Academic Administrator position reporting to the College President. Serving as the chief student services administrator, the incumbent develops vision for and oversees student services and student life programs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Student Services Leadership

Work in partnership with the President and the President's Cabinet to develop and execute a comprehensive strategic plan for Student Services.

Direct and coordinate all operational activities related to Student Services throughout the college.

Ensure Student Services goals related to the college's strategic plan are implemented.

Develop a cohesive Student Services organizational structure.

Support effective relationships among Student Services, college administration, faculty, staff, and students.

Provide leadership for program review and improvement of student progress and learning outcomes.

Review and recommend changes to all Student Services areas.

Supervise the coordination of curriculum development in Student Services.

In collaboration with the Vice President of Instruction, direct enrollment management.

Direct and provide leadership for all student conduct processes.

Provide leadership in responding to accreditation standards.

District and Community Leadership

Develop and negotiate partnerships with other educational institutions and community organizations.

Supervise activities related to articulation with secondary schools.

Represent the College and District to professional organizations and community groups.

Work collaboratively on facilities projects.

Participate in local, regional and state activities.

Attend Board of Trustee meetings as requested.

Fiscal Management

Coordinate and oversee the development and administration of the budget for Student Services.

Participate in the preparation and oversight of grants.

Direct the development and implementation of selected externally funded initiatives.

Plan fiscally responsible short- and long-term strategies for staffing.

Assist with the development of resource allocations for facilities and equipment.

Personnel Management

Plan inclusive recruitments and orientations for Student Services faculty and staff.

Ensure the District's Equal Employment Opportunity Plan strategies are implemented.

Coordinate the equitable evaluation of all Student Services faculty and staff.

Provide leadership for Student Services faculty and staff development programs.

Ensure compliance with applicable collective bargaining agreements.

Minimum Qualifications:

Masters degree or above from an accredited institution OR the equivalent

Three years of effective full-time administrative experience in student services in post-secondary education

Demonstrated cultural competence and understanding of diverse backgrounds.
