Senior Data Engineer - Denver, CO (Hybrid)Are you passionate about delivering real-time data to critical customers around the world? Western Union is hiring for an experienced Enterprise Data Lake/Warehouse Engineer, with hands-on experience in a global enterprise environment. Join us for what's next!Responsibilities:Design, build, and maintain a complex data lake and warehouse while ensuring easy and secure access to data.Develop processes for data management across the enterprise or to support specific business use cases in real-time and batch.Define and implement data security and governance to protect data from unauthorized access.Analyze current warehouse data for data quality issues and processes for continuous improvement, data organization, accuracy, and up-to-date availability of data.Provide technical & domain expertise on the different data domains across the enterprise and apply to solving product challenges.Automate processes, identify opportunities for cost savings.Gather requirements, analyze requirements, and engineer/develop an integration solution that is flexible, performant, scalable, modularized, and accurately manages business data/information with high data quality and error recovery/handling techniques.Establish and maintain comprehensive data architecture and data integration documentation, including flows, transformations aligned with core design principles, techniques, standards and best practices, and thorough code reviews.Scope of work includes development, testing, optimization, migration, and maintenance/support tasks.Demonstrate strong capabilities in assessing business needs while providing creative and effective solutions in conformance to emerging technology standards.Interface and collaborate with other engineers in geographically distributed development centers.Apply Agile methodology daily and follow Definition of Done (DoD) process for better quality by maintaining 80% and unit test coverage and 70% integration test coverage.Define, design, and implement complex, multi-tier distributed software systems throughout all phases of the software development process.Estimate engineering effort, plan implementation, and roll out applications with cross-functional impacts.Qualifications:BS in Computer Science or related fields with 8+ years of professional experience or MS with 6+ years of experienceMust have a strong background and competency in enterprise data lake, data warehouse, data architecture, data management, and data pipelines in streaming/real-time/near real-time/batch modes.Must have technical skills: Talend Cloud, HVR, Matillion, AWS S3, Snowflake, Salesforce, Kafka, Unix, Python, Java, XML/Avro/JSON/Parquet file formats, RESTful and SOAP based web services.Secondary technical skills: AWS Services, Cloud/On-Prem Databases, SFTPExperience with standard security practices to encrypt/decrypt files or PII fields.Experience in product delivery using Agile delivery method.Experience using DevOps tools and agile development methodologies with Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI (Continuous Integration)/CD (Continuous Delivery).Good analytical and troubleshooting skills for effective problem-solving.Ability to work independently, handle multiple tasks, understand the need for consistent process and attention to details.Team player with strong analytical, verbal, and written communication skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, iterative development environment and adapt to changing business priorities and to thrive under pressure.Excellent understanding of computer science fundamentals, data structures, algorithms, OOPs, and OOA/DProven ability to understand our business and ability to contribute to technology direction that drives measurable business improvements.We make financial services accessible to humans everywhere. This role is also eligible to receive an annual bonus that aligns with individual and company performance.
