Full TimePosition OverviewKiewit Infrastructure Engineers (KIE) is seeking a Structural Designer for Construction Engineering Services (CES). We’re looking for the ideal candidate to work with Tekla & AutoCAD programs and perform a variety of structural design, CAD/BIM production tasks related to temporary structures supporting construction operations. The Designer should have 5+ years’ experience in engineering plan production and be familiar with current technical tools, software, and CAD/BIM best practices.Our CES group provides value to the success of our clients’ projects by designing and building temporary works which are critical to quality project design, cost control, and construction excellence. The engineering design tasks our CES group performs to help Kiewit build projects include: Bridge demolition, cofferdam design, critical crane lifts, girder erection, hoisting and jacking, deep foundations, excavation support, marine engineering, formwork/falsework design, temporary bridges, and custom equipment.As one of North America’s largest, most respected construction and engineering organizations, with 2021 revenues of $11.8 billion, Kiewit exists to make a difference. Opportunities for Flexible working are available.ResponsibilitiesWork with our engineering teams to self-perform structural designs for temporary structures (steel, wood, concrete, manufactured items, etc.) supporting construction activities on Kiewit projectsUse Tekla and AutoCAD software to produce design for estimate and construction documentsCoordinate with other KIE CES office Design Leads to enforce CAD/BIM standards, maintain quality, share resources, and operate in a uniform mannerMaintain high level engineering team relationshipsParticipate in design reviews to evaluate design concepts and make recommendationsFollow and assist in developing company BIM/CAD and quality standardsComply with all corporate manager requirements – Team performance and career development reviews, time entry review, compliance, etc.Qualifications5+ years’ experience in CAD/BIM design and production of structural design documentsAssociate degree in Computer Aided Design, Engineering Technology, or similar program experienceAdvanced proficiency in Tekla and AutoCAD (2D and 3D)Additional proficiency in Civil 3D, Revit, or Navisworks is a plusUnderstanding of engineering principles and materials for structural and workRead and understand construction documentsAbility to detail structural connections for steel and concrete structures preferredAbility to clearly communicate and collaborate with Engineers and DesignersCritical thinking skills necessary with the ability to plan and conceptualizeCapable of recognizing conflicts and discrepancies with strong attention to detailBasic skills in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint)Construction and management experience are a plusOther Requirements:Work productively and meet deadlines timelyCommunicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.Perform work safely and effectively. Understand and follow oral and written instructions, including warning signs, equipment use, and other policies.Work during normal operating hours to organize and complete work within given deadlines.
