Director of Development

The Director of Development is responsible for the fundraising of The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy & Foundation. The purpose of the job is:1. To plan, organize, and direct fundraising (including major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving, special events, and capital campaigns) for The Good Samaritan Home of Quincy and The Good Samaritan Home Foundation by the Home’s current Gift Acceptance Policy and current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines and regulations that govern nonprofitorganizations.2. To create an integrated, multi-channel communications plans designed to capitalize on market opportunities and generate demand.

Responsibilities

Oversee and maintain donor database.

Maintain day-to-day donor relations, including processing donations and sending thank you letters.

Plan and implement annual comprehensive development program that meets the goals of the Board of Directors, CEO, and CFO.

Supervise Assistant Director of Development.

Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.

Direct annual fund program, including mailings and fundraising drives.

Build planned giving program with focus on deferred gifts, such as bequests.

Researches potential sources of, and applies for, grants and public funding.

Communicate with current and prospective donors on a routine basis to steward good donor relations.

Oversee grant-seeking program, including identifying applicable grants, research, proposal writing, and reporting requirements.

Direct capital campaigns and other major fundraising drives.

Develop a recognition program for donors.

Develop fundraising plans to meet the needs of future projects, as outlined in strategic plan, to help ensure the Home’s long-term financial health.

Evaluate changing trends in philanthropy and tax regulations to develop new programs.

Plan and implement any special fundraising events.

Coordinate amongst special groups & committees to maintain a master fundraising calendar.

Oversee Foundation’s State Street Bank Account and online donation portal.

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university preferred in business or finance.

A demonstrated history of cultivating planned giving.

A demonstrated history of grant writing.

Demonstrated experience in creating annual events/receptions that consistently raise funds and can cultivate future donors from the community, families, and residents

A person who has asked for and received gifts at the six and seven figure level.

A person who can create a budget and accomplish their annual goals.

A person who genuinely enjoys people and will be able to socialize in all donor settings.

Thorough knowledge of principles of effective communication, social media, mass media, advertising, policies, education, community relations.

Computer skills including word processing, design and publications, spread sheets, word press, social media, graphic design
