QUICK DETAILSLearn, Lead and Inspire - Activity Programs Coordinator In-Training (Full Time)Belmont Village Senior Living’s Activity Programs Coordinator In-Training program is designed to prepare qualified candidates for leadership as an Activity Programs Coordinator. The program immerses candidates in all aspects of the role including how to promote resident socialization, growth, learning and development by planning and implementing activities, supervising our resident transportation programs and leading Community holiday programming.Participants train at a host Belmont Village community under the direction of a preceptor and program administrator, who will guide their training over the course of the program. Participants will learn both technical skills related to their job, as well as hone their leadership skills in order to be successful as an Activity Programs Coordinator. This is accomplished through a combination of on-the-job shadowing, completion of a knowledge & skills checklist, participation in online self-paced training modules, participation in leadership assessment tools, and hands-on experience. REQUIREMENTSAssociate's degree from an accredited institution requiredProficient in written and verbal EnglishTelephone and PC skills such as Publisher, Canva, Microsoft Word, Outlook etc.Demonstrated ability in the following areas:CreativityCommunicationOrganizationAbility to establish long-term relationshipsInterest in working with the older populationUnderstanding of cultural diversity; understanding of needs of aging populationAbility to work flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays to support activity programmingUpon successful completion of the management in-training program, participants must have flexibility in relocating to any Belmont Village Senior Living location in order to be permanently placed in to the role they have trained forPREFERENCES

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institutionMore than one year of increased responsibility in a service related capacityPrior experience in activity program development or hosting (preferably with an adult or senior population)Prior experience in the fields of education, occupational therapy, social work, theater, and/or event planningComputer trouble shooting skills, familiarity with entertainment type PC software, maintaining digital event monitors, office applications, internet, desk top publishing, and video conferencingExperience working with older population and in activity planning for older adultsBENEFITS & PERKS

THE BELMONT VILLAGE DIFFERENCE

PURPOSETrainee participates in a comprehensive, multi-month training program to learn the role of an Activity Programs Coordinator (APC) under the direction of a designated Preceptor. Trainee will be given progressive responsibility and duties within the assigned community related to the management of the Activities programs consistent with Belmont Village Senior Living program standards, including all duties of the APC.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Complete all training program checklists and training program requirements, unless exemption is given by Program Administrator and PreceptorCommunicates with Program Administrator and Preceptor through regular progress meetings and continual feedback using self-evaluation and progress reportsMay participate in the following community management role assignments as determined appropriate by Preceptor:Provide oversight of Drivers and other Activity Staff Members, as appropriateCoordinate with the APC as to appropriate hiring, training, evaluation, orientation, assignments and delegation of duties for any positions supervised by the APCPromotes resident socialization, growth, learning & development by planning, implementing & engaging residents for activities in the following categories:

physical/ exercise,

entertainment,

social,

religious,

recreational/creative,

volunteering, intellectual ,

special requests of residentsAssists APC with developing and creating printed and digital promotion of planned activities and eventsPlans, coordinates and helps implement decoration of the community for special events, seasons and holidaysResearches and develops educational opportunities for residentsConducts, leads and chaperones activities as neededInvolves residents in planning and implementing programs and activities; remind/ encourage residents to participate in activitiesDevelop and manage an active group of volunteers to support Activity ProgrammingUpon completion of all operational training assignments and with final approval from the Program Administrator and Preceptor, the trainee will be eligible for promotion to an APC role in a Belmont Village Senior Living community
