Director of Technical Accounting

Job SummaryThe Director of Technical Accounting & Policy is responsible for supporting our businesses with a focus on technical accounting for complex transactions. This individual will play a critical role in ensuring the appropriate accounting treatment and policies are consistently applied in accordance with US GAAP. The Director of Technical Accounting & Policy will report to the VP, Assistant Controller and should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills with an ability to explain technical accounting requirements to senior management and business partners in a simplified manner.ResponsibilitiesSupport the business in determining the appropriate accounting treatment of material and complex transactions.Developing and updating corporate accounting policies and procedures relating to a wide variety of accounting issuesPrepare technical accounting memorandums documenting conclusions of complex accounting issues and transactions with reference to appropriate accounting literatureDevelop processes and procedures to ensure consistent application of accounting principles across the organizationInteract with external and internal auditors, and business leaders to ensure appropriate accounting conclusions are reachedMonitor standard setter activity and assess the impact of new developments in accounting standardsQualificationsMinimum of 7 years of Accounting experienceBig 4 public accounting firm experienceStrong technical knowledge of US GAAPAbility to understand complex financial transactions, research accounting issues and document conclusionsExcellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong business relationships with all levels and business areas in the organization4-year degree in AccountingCertified Public Accountant (CPA) required
