FAMILY NURSE PRACTITIONER
NRHC is actively recruiting a Family Nurse Practitioner for our established medical facility located in northern California. This is a strictly outpatient, primary care practice setting, in a very Family Nurse Practitioner friendly environment with opportunities to grow. The schedule is Monday through Friday 8-5, with the option to work 4 - 10's. There are no nights and our Urgent Care is open on Saturdays. Typical patient volume is 13-16 patients per 8-hour shift or 20 patients in a 10-hour shift. You will have the opportunity to see patients of all age groups.The Nurse Practitioner will plan, direct, and evaluate resident and employee health care in ambulatory health services; examine and treat chronic and acute episodic illnesses, minor injuries, accidents, and other injuries/illnesses; performs selected laboratory testing; offer referrals to physicians, write prescriptions, and perform office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. The Nurse Practitioner will also work with the medical director in the care and treatment of patients and staff.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Meets with new residents to orient them about services, to identify needs, and to suggest local physicians and services.Sees ambulatory patients in the health services office for laboratory testing, examination, diagnosis, and treatment of chronic and acute episodic illnesses and minor injuries. Refers to physician as needed. Writes prescriptions and performs office procedures within the scope of expertise, protocols, and available equipment. Makes house calls when necessary. Schedules follow-up visits in office or unit as needed.Performs physical examinations (pap tests, etc.).Conducts support groups in subjects related to physical and emotional health (i.e., challenge of change, dealing with loss, dealing with chronic illness as caregiver, etc.). Coordinates health promotional activities (providing printed information, routine testing, flu shots, mammograms, etc.).Performs staff employment physicals, TB testing, etc. Examines staff after on-the-job accidents or injuries.Acts as a resource person for decisions, planning, and policies affecting the health of residents and staff.Maintains outpatient records. Records statistics and conducts research as deemed necessary by institution. Compiles reports concerning ambulatory care at facility.Collaborates with staff to identify patients' needs and to help develop plan to meet these needs.Serves as a member of committees dealing with health care.
