ORGANIZATION OVERVIEWWoodstock Arts has a mission to engage the community with relevant art experiences every day.JOB OVERVIEWSetting the vision for the production for everyone involved, bringing together the many complex pieces of a production—the script, actors, set, costuming, lighting and sound, and music—into a unified whole, and guiding the show from page to stage.Please submit your resume and cover letter to
zach@elmstreetarts.org.RESPONSIBILITIESInterpret the scriptCast the production alongside the Artistic Director.Collaborate with designers, the Choreographer (as needed), Music Director (as needed), and Stage Manager.Plan the rehearsals alongside the creative team.Attend Design and Production Meetings.Guide the actors in their work during rehearsals. (Acting analysis, Blocking, staging, etc)QUALIFICATIONSWell-executed organizational skillsProblem-solving skillsBasic understanding of all the technical demands of a production: lights, sound, props, set changes, make-up changes, and special effects.A firm, kind, polite, respectful, and calm manner who can encourage and lead a large number of people to achieve a high standard of on-stage discipline.Skilled understanding of all the All aspects of acting: Blocking, script interpretation, character analysis, and the different methods to achieve executing a scene.Stamina and a sense of humor.A love for the arts and theatre.WORK SCHEDULETypically, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday evenings for the Rehearsal run. 8 hour rehearsals on a designer and Q2Q days. Friday and Saturday evenings, Saturday and Sunday afternoons for a performance run. Rehearsal times are subject to change based on the project.EDUCATION & EXPERIENCEHigh School Diploma requiredTechnical theatrical experience preferred, leadership experience required.Basic understanding of acting required.SKILLS & ABILITIESExcellent communication skills with the ability to manage and motivate a cast.Hands-on experience with directing and/or teaching theatre/actingGood writing skillsA positive attitude is a must regardless of the situation.Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work under deadlines.PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENTThe work environment and physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
