ROLE SUMMARY

The Financial Reporting Accountant is responsible for preparing and managing various financial documents and reports for a community bank. This role ensures the accuracy and compliance of financial statements, SEC filings, and other financial reports, working closely with internal and external auditors, as well as tax accountants.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare, review, and post journal entries to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.Perform account reconciliations and resolve discrepancies to maintain accurate financial records.Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP and regulatory requirements.Compile and prepare internal management reports and external regulatory reports.Assist in the preparation and review of quarterly and annual SEC filings, including 10-Q and 10-K reports, and coordinate earnings releases.Process and report on stock awards, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and accounting standards.Manage Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) accounting entries and ensure accurate reporting.Coordinate and respond to audit requests from internal and external auditors, providing necessary documentation and explanations.Collaborate with external tax accountants to provide necessary financial information for tax filings and ensure compliance with tax regulations.Oversee the monthly closing process, ensuring all financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.Conduct variance analysis to identify and explain differences between actual and budgeted financial performance.Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.Liaise with internal and external auditors to facilitate audits and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.Other duties as assigned

Requirements

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Required Education/Experience:Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; a CPA or relevant professional certification is highly preferred.3+ years of experience in financial reporting, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.Strong understanding of GAAP, SEC regulations, and financial reporting standards.Proficiency in financial reporting software and tools.Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

Preferred Education/Experience:Master's degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
