Organization BackgroundBased in Washington, DC, Easterly Government Properties, Inc. (NYSE:DEA) is a publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) focused primarily on the acquisition, development and management of Class A commercial properties that are leased to U.S. Government agencies.OverviewThe ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial reporting, a deep understanding of accounting principles, and outstanding written and verbal communication skills.The Senior Accountant – Financial Reporting will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting and will work collaboratively with the firm’s Accounting Managers, Accounting Directors, Controller, and Chief Accounting Officer.ResponsibilitiesPrepare quarterly and annual financial reports in compliance with GAAP and SEC regulations including Form 10-K, Form 10-Q and Form 8-K (including earnings releases and supplemental information packages).Prepare and review schedules that support the disclosures in the Company’s SEC filings including those on Form 10-K and Form 10-Q.Prepare internal management reporting packages.Research and analyze complex accounting issues, providing guidance to internal stakeholders on the application of accounting standards.Interact directly with other members of the Accounting Team, Asset Management Team, external auditors, and internal auditors.Assist with Sarbanes-Oxley Compliance Program.Other duties as assigned.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Accounting, Master’s degree and/or CPA preferred.Minimum of 4 years of experience in financial reporting, with a focus on SEC reporting for public companies.Strong knowledge of GAAP and SEC regulations.Experience with real estate accounting and familiarity with industry-specific reporting requirements is a plus.Effective problem-solving skills and sound judgment.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Ability to function in a team-oriented setting and respond well to constructive criticism.Strong organizational skills and the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks with a high attention to detail.Tenacity toward meeting deadlines, with a strong sense of urgency and good self-management discipline.Ability to work accurately and efficiently.Strong ethical character and a sense of humor.Proficient in Microsoft Office, experience with SEC Filing & Reporting Software (preferably ActiveDisclosure) and experience with General Ledger software (preferably Yardi).An Equal Opportunity Employer
