The VA Pacific Islands Health Care System provides access to patient care to over 130,000 veterans across a 2.6M square mile area of the Pacific Ocean. Remote Island locations, separated by great distances of ocean, is the environment in which the VAPIHCS delivers a full range of comprehensive health care services. The VAPIHCS operates seven community-based outpatient clinics (CBOCs) covering seven county areas. These outpatient clinics are in America Samoa, Guam, Hilo, Kauai, Kona, Leeward, and Maui. VAPIHCS is a Level 3 facility within the VA Sierra Pacific Network (VISN 21).The Physician/Medicine Supervisor position is located at the respective Community Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) for which this position is responsible for: American Samoa, Guam, Leeward, Hilo, Kauai, Kona, Maui or Windward. The incumbent will serve as direct supervisor to various medical staff such as, but not limited to: Primary Care Providers (PCP), Clinical Social Workers, Pharmacists and Medical Technicians. Incumbent will collaborate with VA Nursing, Mental Health and Geriatrics, Rehab and Extended Care (GREC) services and community stakeholders to ensure smooth functioning of the clinic and provision of outstanding and timely care. Incumbent will also provide direct patient care according to approved clinical privileges at VA PIHCS with an expected average clinical time of at least 70%. Incumbent is clinically and administratively responsible to the CBOC Chief.The major duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:Leading clinical staff in projects directed toward Performance Measure clinical outcome targets in access, quality of care, efficiency, process improvement, and patient satisfaction.Providing and coordinating clinically related Employee Health services working in conjunction with the Honolulu based Employee Health service.Practicing in accordance with professional standards, core values and with a commitment to excellent service.Assisting with completion of Environmental Agents Registry exams.Providing comprehensive Primary Care to an adjusted size panel of assigned patients using the Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) model of care delivery including interfacing with Non-VA providers to ensure smooth transitions in care.Work Schedule:
