IntroductionThe civic designer is appointed by, and serves at the pleasure of, the Governor.

The community engagement liaison will support the Innovation Team’s work by facilitating bidirectional community engagement, including managing communication strategies and channels and maintaining awareness of stakeholder engagement opportunities.

Responsibilities:

Develop and implement strategies to engage diverse community groups

Execute bidirectional engagement efforts in order to ensure alignment between Innovation Team priorities and the needs of Marylanders

Organize and facilitate community meetings, forums, and events to gather input and feedback

Create and distribute materials to inform Marylanders about government programs, services, and initiatives

Establish and maintain positive relationships with community leaders, organizations, and Marylanders

Collaborate with external organizations, such as nonprofits and businesses, to support community-driven projects and initiatives

Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of engagement strategies and programs

Prepare reports and presentations on community engagement activities and outcomes

Assist with questions, needs, and concerns – both internally and externally – by handling, delegating, or escalating for the attention of other members of the Innovation Team

Build and maintain positive working relationships with stakeholders both within and outside state government, including other government officials, agency heads, staff members, and external partners

Other duties and projects as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONSExperience in community outreach, public relations, or a similar role

workforce to achieve objectives

Effective listener - probes, surfaces, and shares new ideas and ways of doing
