Join Mizuho as a Vice President in a dual role as both Litigation & Employment and Corporate Secretary Counsel! This is a unique opportunity to broaden your skills and work on two in-house legal teams. In this role you will be responsible for the management of employment-related litigation, arbitrations and internal investigations as well as potentially other litigation and investigation matters. You will also spend half of your time working on a small Corporate Secretary team. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a general litigation background to learn corporate secretary and employment law substance and skills. This is a hybrid role, currently requiring 3 days per week in the NYC office.

Principal Duties/ResponsibilitiesAs a member of the Legal Division’s Litigation and Employment team, you will be the attorney primarily responsible for the management of employment litigation matters and potentially non-employment related litigation and investigation matters.You will lead from start to finish employment-related internal investigations.Provide support to and work closely with Mizuho’s employment lawyer.You will spend half of your time supporting the Corporate Secretary, including by preparing for and managing board and committee meetings, handling various corporate governance matters (including bank regulatory considerations and corporate law queries), drafting and managing execution of minutes, resolutions and approvals, responding to regulatory exam and audit matters, and supporting various internal corporate functions with legal advice.Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by your manager.Required Qualifications3-7 years of experience working as an in-house litigator or at a law firm’s litigation department. Employment Law experience helpful but not required.Law degree from an accredited law school in the United States.Member in good standing of a state bar (NY Bar preferred).Detail oriented and collaborative team player.Strategic thinker, capable of developing creative and practical legal and business solutions.Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.Capable of completing work independently.Excellent people, communication, organizational and presentation skills.The expected base salary ranges from $150,000.00 - $220,000.00. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications and licenses obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
