ControllerStatus: ExemptDirect Reports: NoneSummary:The Senior Accountant – Payroll & Benefits plays a vital role in the Finance department of the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center (“POKC”). This position is part of the team that is responsible for all payroll and payroll related matters of the organization and provides excellent customer service to our employees. Reporting to the Controller, this position is primarily responsible for reviewing and recording payroll-related transactions and reporting both internally and externally on payroll and benefits matters.In addition, this position will process the weekly payroll on a rotational basis and act as the primary back-up for payroll processing.Essential Functions:Record and reconcile payroll and benefits-related activities of the organization, to both enter and analytically review transactions. This includes monthly close journal entries and critical review of general ledger activity and balances.Act as primary contact and liaison for questions and requests on payroll-related financial data, both internally and externally.Prepare payroll bank reconciliation and other payroll-related balance sheet account reconciliations.Facilitate and prepare workpapers for various audits and reporting requirements throughout the year.Process weekly and bi-weekly payrolls through ADP Workforce Now (including union and non-union employees) on a pre-scheduled, rotational basis; act as a primary back-up to designated payroll specialist.Act as liaison for special projects as determined by the Controller and senior leadership.Qualifications and Experience:Demonstrated ability to work within MS Office, especially utilizing Excel to craft reports and manage data utilizing basic and advanced formulas.Proven track record of partnering with divergent work groups, utilizing different systems and processes, to meet varying needs.Quick learner with strong organizational skills.Minimum of 3 to 5 years general accounting experience in a complex environment.Experience with not-for-profit accounting preferred.
