Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for an Assistant Director for Inclusion and Belonging. The primary function of the Assistant Director is to provide advisement to all students on matters related to enrollment, academic performance and persistence to degree. Primary duties involve counseling individual students and families to address issues that negatively affect students’ ability to participate and succeed in the University environment. The Assistant Director will assist the Associate Vice President for Inclusion and Belonging in providing leadership in the development, enhancement and execution of programs to attract, retain and graduate all students from Pittsburg State University, and to foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all. This position will emphasize retention of success initiatives focused on diverse populations of students.Duties and Responsibilities:40%

Retention and Student SuccessHelp in the promotion and implementation of engagement, retention and student success efforts, leadership programs and student-centered services in the OIB OfficeProactively promote an inclusive and respectful work and learning environmentDesign and deliver presentations, workshops and learning modules for various student populationsAssist with the recruitment, selection, supervision and development of student employees of the officeConsult with, advise and advocate for various student organizations that promote inclusion on campus including, but not limited to Black Student Association, Hispanics of Today, Native American Student Association, Gender and Sexuality Alliance, University Women, first generation students, and work with the student groups to plan and execute special eventsSupervise the Graduate Assistant.Planning, development and implementation of events related to inclusion and belonging.30%

Campus and Community ServiceEngage in University Service and undertake special projects and other duties as assignedActive membership and participation in various university committees and initiatives.15%

Inclusion and Belonging InitiativesCollaborate across the University to achieve unit objectives (e.g. Admissions, First year programs, housing, financial assistance, academic departments and other campus life units)Develop, promote and provide for faculty and staff development programs and classroom presentations that increase awareness and sensitivity to issues faced by historically underserved college students and promote an inclusive campus environment10%
