Job DescriptionSUMMARY OF JOB PURPOSE : The Senior Accounting Manager will lead and support the business with Finance & Accounting expertise. The Senior Accounting Manager will be responsible for preparation of the financial statements, business, and financial statement analysis, assisting with the month-end close, and supporting the external audit. The Senior Accounting Manager will supervise and coach members of the F&A staff, inspiring them to grow and contribute. The Senior Accounting Manager will champion process improvements to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our F&A team.PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES :Prepare financial statements; ensure that financial statements comply with applicable accounting standards and adhere to company accounting policies.Perform variance analysis and prepare commentaries that help the business understand our financial position and improve business results.Assist the Controller with month-end close activities, including review of accounting journal entries, account analysis, preparation of schedules for various expenses, and review of account reconciliations.Participate in the annual budget process; work with the Controller and Finance Director to formulate appropriate budget assumptions; maintain a thorough understanding of the budget to facilitate variance analysis throughout the year.Assist with the year-end audit process with effective planning and coordination between the F&A team and external auditors.Supervise, train, and develop accounting staff including providing the staff with the necessary guidance and training to ensure they are empowered to fulfill their job responsibilities and support career progression.Reconcile data transfers between different financial systems, ensuring that all systems remain in balance and all data maintains its integrity.Support the Controller in maintaining internal controls and safeguarding of assets.REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE :Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA required.8+ years of experience at the manager level, ideally beginning in a Big Four public accounting firm, consulting firm, or F&A group.Advanced Excel; experience utilizing ERP system; proficiency with NetSuite a strong plus; knowledge of OneStream a strong plus.Deep understanding of GAAP and experience dealing with complex accounting issues. Experience with ledger consolidations and international accounting procedures a strong plus.Desired Knowledge, Skills & Abilities :Sets continually higher goals for both him/herself and the team that are ambitious but realistic; champions process improvement efforts to drive efficiency and effectiveness. Adopts IT solutions and technology to improve team effectiveness.Hands on - willing and able to dive into the details to accomplish objectives.Excellent leadership, communications (verbal, presentation, and written) and interpersonal skills.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.WORKING CONDITIONS : Work is generally performed in a typical office environment, with limited exposure to harsh weather conditions, loud internal or external noise, fumes, or significant temperature changes. Occasional overnight travel in a work capacity may be required.PHYSICAL ACTIVITIES AND REQUIREMENTS : Lift and carry up to 10 lbs.; frequent standing, sitting, walking, and bending; occasional kneeling, reaching, and stooping; handling office equipment; periodic driving may be required; visual acuity to prepare and read detailed hard copy and electronic documents; ability to speak and to hear the spoken word in normal face-to-face and telephonic business communications.
