Project Engineers are responsible for helping with schedule preparation, pre-planning, forecasting, and assuring project accuracy and quality to completion.Project Engineers provide both technical and administrative assistance to the Project Manager and Superintendent; reporting directly to the Senior Project Manager for all activities.To be successful in this position, you must be detail-oriented and value teamwork and collaboration.Duties & ResponsibilitiesProject Startup/PreconstructionAssist Project Manager with setting up proper job folders and information including project document logs (RFIs, Drawings, Submittals, etc.), billings, change orders, correspondence, etc.Collaborate with the Project Manager and Superintendent to identify critical long-lead items and develop project procurement schedule.Help Project Manager track status of projects – revenue, cost, completion percentage, etc.Assist in obtaining necessary permits to ensure no disruption in the construction scheduleProject ConstructionAssist Project Manager coordinate with Superintendent to promote jobsite safety and adherence to Wiregrass Construction safety policies and procedures.Assist Project Manager organize, manage, and track the entire submittal/shop drawing review process to ensure all required submittals are reviewed and approved in a timely manner.Collaborate with field supervision team and the Project Manager to create clear & concise RFIs that is understood and answered by the Project Design Team.Maintain current and accurate RFI log and file according to standard RFI procedures.Assist with coordination of change orders and tracking of change orders for billing purposes.Assume responsibility for coordinating and tracking distribution and storage of all project engineering documents, including drawing sets, specifications, sketches, ASIs, permits, etc.Create, distribute, and file accurate meeting minutes for all project management meetings.Attend jobsite meetings when required.Track daily quantities and review daily reports to verify quantities, bringing to the Project Manager any discrepancies identified.Assist Project Manager in the generation of estimates for work completed and follow up on status of payments.Assist Project manager with conducting continuous evaluations of cost, yields (construction and materials), plans, schedules, job assignments (when needed), etc.Develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with all management, seeking comments and suggestions.With Project Manager, ensure that all work complies with all local laws, ordinaces, EPA regualations, etc.Project Completion1Collaborate with Superintendent and Project Manager to develop “Road Map to Completion" for all work elements, including inspections, report submittals.Assist Superintendent to complete punch list processObtain contractually required warranties from subcontractors and vendorsCloseout all permitsComplete and file As-built drawing setArchive all project documents according to document storage proceduresQualificationsGeneral knowledge of construction principles/practices plus related work experience requiredStrong work ethic and desire to work in a fast paced, team environmentExcellent attention to detailDisciplined and solution focused individuals who enjoy working with others preferredExcellent written and oral communication skillsWorking proficiency with Microsoft Office Suites (Outlook, Word, and Excel)Knowledge of civil engineering and/or construction management: position requires the use of complicated drawings and construction principlesWorking ConditionsThis position is typically done within an office environment with occasional field work at project/construction sites.
