What You'll Do

You will work in Research Triangle Park, NC, or Annapolis Junction, MD, researching unique technical problems, and developing tooling to assist in that research. Previous experience in software development, security research, or digital forensics is a plus, but is not required. Your work will involve navigating and understanding very large code bases to determine how specific features work and build tooling to assist in live system inspection. The tooling we develop benefits everyone on the team and is one development product that is also fed back into a larger ecosystem of researchers within the company.

The work is challenging, but we prioritize a proper work/life balance. It will be rare that you will be in the office more than 40 hours a week. On this team, contribution & performance are measured by the work you do, not how much time you spend at your desk. There is a lot of flexibility for dealing with life outside of work, because we believe this helps the team perform at its highest level.

Who You Are:

Minimum Basic Qualifications:BA/BS Degree and/or a minimum 3+ (or Masters +2) years of professional experience in a software engineering roleRequired for the position , you must currently hold or have previously held a U.S. Top Secret/SCI security clearance with Full Scope poly. (OR, have the ability and desire to be granted one).3+ years of experience navigating and understanding large complex code bases.3+ years of experience writing code in C/C++ and/or Python, Go, Rust

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience in software development, security research, or digital forensicsPrevious experience working with software code repositories such as gitPrevious work within imbedded operating systemsAbility to take ownership of tasks with minimal supervision.Your communication and presentation skills are exemplary, working in highly collaborative and multi-functional teams.Perfectly comfortable spending your entire day using the command-line instead of a GUI

access

to quality medical, dental and vision insurance, a 401(k) plan with a Cisco matching contribution, short and long-term disability coverage, basic life insurance and numerous wellbeing offerings. Employees receive up to twelve paid holidays per calendar year, which includes one floating holiday, plus a day off for their birthday. Employees accrue up to 20 days of Paid Time Off (PTO) each year and have access to paid time away to deal with critical or emergency issues without tapping into their PTO. We offer additional paid time to volunteer and give back to the community. Employees are also able to purchase company stock through our Employee Stock Purchase Program.Employees on sales plans earn performance-based incentive pay on top of their base salary, which is split between quota and non-quota components. For quota-based incentive pay, Cisco typically pays as follows:.75% of incentive target for each 1% of revenue attainment up to 50% of quota;1.5% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 50% and 75%;1% of incentive target for each 1% of attainment between 75% and 100%; and once performance exceeds 100% attainment, incentive rates are at or above 1% for each 1% of attainment with no cap on incentive compensation.For non-quota-based sales performance elements such as strategic sales objectives, Cisco may pay up to 125% of target. Cisco sales plans do not have a minimum threshold of performance for sales incentive compensation to be paid.
