Summary Description
The Senior Director for Research and Evaluation will be responsible for leading CCUSA’s national research agenda, cultivating external research partnerships, and building services to support member agencies’ research and evaluation efforts. This position is embedded within CCUSA’s Member Services Division, with key coordination with the Programs and Services team, the Government Relations team, and Communications and Development offices. This position’s primary objective is to cultivate reputational respect for CCUSA and its members as sources of credible information and insightful ideas related to the practice, policy, and theology of poverty reduction in the United States.

This individual will be called upon to lead a team to provide research and evaluation on programs and services connected with governmental relations efforts.

Primary Responsibilities
Provide strategic guidance and recommendations for organizational engagement on research and thought leadership initiatives related to CCUSA’s anti-poverty agenda.
Provide team leadership for the CCUSA Annual Survey and other data collection efforts to ensure quality primary data is available to the organization.
Cultivate and manage external research partnerships, including with the University of Notre Dame’s Wilson-Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities, and with other Universities and Colleges as appropriate.
Collaborate with Government Relations staff to guide research-driven advocacy positions and materials.
Consult with CCUSA member agencies to help in the development of research and evaluation strategies for their programs.
Coordinate across departments to ensure consistent use of quality data and research in external communications.
Lead the implementation of new research and evaluation projects to advance the mission of CCUSA. Direct the development and analysis of original research to inform the organization.
Monitor program(s) expenditures to ensure accountability and operation within budget constraints.
Represent the organization externally at relevant coalitions meetings and other events to cultivate and maintain strategic external partnerships.
Exercise significant leadership in CCUSA’s mission to Reduce Poverty in America and promote our Catholic Identity.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong understanding of Catholic Social Doctrine and the Catholic Moral Tradition
Solid organizational and analytical skills
Demonstrated ability to conduct and interpret quantitative and qualitative analyses
Ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, and deadlines
Demonstrated policy knowledge and background on priority issue areas for CCUSA
Embrace CCUSA’s values and the behaviors that support the values
Respond in a timely manner to management requests for information
Strong written and oral communication skills
Strong internal and external relationship building skills
Excellent writing skills; demonstrated presentation writing abilities

Ability to exercise sound judgment and to make timely, value-based decisions
Proven ability to work collaboratively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds

Proficient in computer, Qualtrics and Microsoft Office Suite programs with advanced knowledge of MS Windows: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio required

Education & Experience
Master level (or equivalent experience) in statistics, political science, public policy, social work or related field
Minimum of five to seven years of experience in a non-profit, association or related fields
Work Environment
This position may require extended periods of standing, sitting, as well as some repetitive movements, bending and repetitive lifting of minimal weight
