Works collaboratively with the psychiatrist, psychologist, medical and counseling providers and others to provide patient assessment, diagnose and formulate treatment plans, prescribe medications, order laboratory tests, interpret test results, provide patient education, prepare medical records and refer patients for inpatient care in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols regulating the profession. The Psychiatrist NP works under the Director of Student Health Services.Essential FunctionsResponsible for contacting and doing intake for Covid Positive students, making sure they are following isolation requirements, communicating with the
CARE
team the needs of the student, and discharging from Isolation.Provides patient assessment, diagnosis and treatment plans in accordance with statutes, regulations and protocols regulating the professionProvided Psychiatric health services, education, counseling and emotional support.Refers patients for inpatient or outside community care, as necessary.Order laboratory tests, interprets and explains the test results to patients.Provides patient education regarding medication, risks, benefits and reasonable outcome expectations.Assist in emergency management and crisis response services to students in collaboration with
CAPS
and
SHS
staff.Working with other members of the
CARE
team to coordinate student care, referrals, Care Management and hospital/ER and/or Psychiatric Hold discharge follow up.Communicates with patients and engages in follow up as necessary.Oversee and monitor psychotropic medication.Provides psychotherapy and integrative therapy interventions.Delegates appropriately and coordinates duties/activities of health care team members.Demonstrates responsibility and accountability for own professional practice.Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues, including patient confidentiality and risk management in all aspects of patient care and unit functioning.Participates regularly in staff development activities for department personnel.Participates in department Performance Improvement activities.Participates in program review and student learning activities as requested.Identifies and solves problems effectively.Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions with patients, colleagues, and all members of the University community.Demonstrates proficiency in the use of computers and telecommunication modalities to document, track and convey information.Facilitate health education both individually and to groups on campus as assigned.Collaborates with director and supervising physician to establish and implement clinical policies and procedures.Seeks opportunities to promote professional and personal growth through available academic facilities and continuing education activitiesPerform other related duties as assigned

$80.00 - $82.00 per hour.
