The Position: Assistant Professor of Music Theory

Duties and ResponsibilitiesTEACHING:

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory, including the coordination of undergraduate curricula across multiple sections with other instructors. Advise students pursuing the MM in music theory and participate on supervisory committees for master’s and doctoral students in other music fields.RESEARCH/CREATIVE SCHOLARSHIP:

Establish and maintain a program of outstanding scholarly productivity in the field of music theory that contributes to the national/international discussions of the discipline.SERVICE:

Serve on committees (school, college, and university), serve in professional organizations (SMT, CMS, etc.), and work in a collegial fashion with faculty, staff, students, and administration.OTHER:

Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of the Glenn Korff School of Music.Minimum Required QualificationsDoctoral Degree in Music Theory completed by the first day of employment, i.e., Monday, August 19, 2024.Evidence of potential for building a record of scholarship in music theory.Expertise or experience in pedagogical or curricular innovation in music theory.Preferred QualificationsCollegiate teaching experience in music theory.Record of scholarship in music theory.Evidence of the ability to foster an inclusive and diverse academic environment.Posted SalaryHow to ApplyClick “Apply for this Job” and complete the information form.
