At Rocketship Public Schools, we are unleashing potential.The Occupational Therapist will work across multiple (3) Rocketship school sites under the direct supervision of the Director of Student Services. Rocketship's occupational therapists are responsible for providing both direct and indirect support to students, families, and staff members in order to ensure high-quality programming for students, particularly those with disabilities.Key Responsibilities Essential functions:
Lead specialized evaluations related to sensory-motor development; write quality, compliant assessment reportsDevelop Individualized Education Program (IEP) goals and objectives, as well as intervention plansAttend IEP meetings; present evaluation findings; present information regarding student present levels and progress; recommend educationally relevant goals, services, and supports driven by student needs; collaborate with IEP teams to assist in finalizing the student’s planAttend 504 meetings; present evaluation findings and information regarding student present levels; recommend supports driven by student needs; collaborate with 504 teams to assist in finalizing the student’s planProvide high-quality and evidence-based occupational therapy servicesAssist in the implementation of evaluation recommendations as neededWork with parents to build knowledge of disability and inclusive support for students with disabilitiesAssist in providing in-service training to parents, teachers, administrators and other professionals and paraprofessionalsProvide consultation and advisement to administrators, teachers, and parents regarding the general and special education programs and supports under the Multi-tiered Systems of Support (MTSS), as appropriateAssist in coordinating, communicating and seeking consultation with community agencies as appropriateProvide support and guidance to the organization as a member of the ISE Network Support TeamMaintain a compliant practicePerform other duties as assigned or requested by the appropriate administratorRequired Qualifications:
Must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in occupational therapy from an accredited four year college or university and have a valid license of proficiency in occupational therapy services issued by the Wisconsin Board of Occupational TherapyExperience working with elementary-age students (preferred)Experience working with students with a range of disabilities (learning disabilities, emotional and behavioral disorders, autism, etc.)Excellent written and oral communication skillsEmbrace the mission of Rocketship EducationThrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environmentAbility to be flexible and adaptive in a work environment that is still evolving.Perform a variety of specialized and responsible tasks: maintain records, establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, parents, other school personnel, meet schedule and compliance deadlines.Possession of a valid driver’s license: willingness to provide own transportation in conduct of work assignments as you will be required to travel from site to site to work with students and faculty at all sitesPhysical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, and communicate with both adults and children. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally climb ladders. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
