We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Data and Analytics leader to build out our data and analytics infrastructure.
Job Purpose
The Director of Data and Analytics will own all data engineering, data visualization and business intelligence functions at Springer Publishing. This newly created role will be responsible for the provision of data, analytics, and business intelligence capabilities to the organization, and will play a key role in driving a data-driven decision-making culture. You will lead the selection of data warehousing and business intelligence tools that distill complex data into clear and actionable insights.
Duties and Responsibilities
Define and implement the strategy for Springer Publishing’s data systems, platforms, and integration across the organizationAct as the product owner of key data products, working to ensure selection of appropriate technological approaches and tools.Deeply understand the use case and applications for data systems at Springer PublishingOwn the quality, understandability, and reporting of key company metrics from ingestion to modeling and reporting.Be the visible leader of Data to the organization by setting and articulating a vision, providing ongoing communication, and establishing a foundation of data governance that promotes trust and empowers data-driven decision making across the company.Oversee data governance and security, and ensure compliance with data privacy, ethics, and regulations.Manage contractors and vendors including software and professional services providersDevelop and manage budgets for data and BI systemsStay up to date with the latest and evolving BI and EDW best practices and technologies
Qualifications
10+ years of experience of building and maintaining data warehouses, BI applications, and data management processesDeep understanding and experience with SQL and data visualization toolsAdvanced proficiency with data model design, applications, data flows, API documentation, and data governanceExcellent collaboration skills, with the ability to understand and apply product needs and requirements from a diverse set of organizational stakeholders, and to communicate technical information to non-technical audiences.Clear track record of success taking product ideas from concept to design to execution and linking objectives and outcomes to strategic goals.Demonstrated experience applying technical coordination and project management best practicesHighly organized and detail-driven, with the ability to anticipate workflow needs in a quick-turn environmentExperience integrating Data Warehouse and Customer Data Platform solutionsExperience in EdTech and/or direct to consumer eCommerce preferableStrong project management skillsExperience utilizing data infrastructure tools such as cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, etc), data integration tools, business intelligence tools (PowerBI, etc), CRM systems (Salesforce, etc), and other enterprise data tools required.Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, and/or other coding languages for data analytics, data science and/or data engineering required.Strong communication skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.Bachelor’s degree

Must be local to and able to travel to our Princeton, NJ office as required
