Pay Philosophy
The typical starting salary range for this role is determined by a number of factors including skills, experience, education, certifications and location. The full salary range for this role reflects the competitive labor market value for all employees in these positions across the national market and provides an opportunity to progress as employees grow and develop within the role. Some roles at Liberty Mutual have a corresponding compensation plan which may include commission and/or bonus earnings at rates that vary based on multiple factors set forth in the compensation plan for the role.

Description
  • Apply software, architecture, and engineering practices to lead the transformation and aggressive modernization of the company's core business systems
  • Develop component design
  • Develop; and/or modify effective, defect free source code that meets business requirements and team standards
  • Design and implement in unit test case development
  • Develop complex test scripts
  • Execute all levels of testing (System, Integration, and Regression)
  • Work from specifications to develop or modify highly complex software programming applications
  • Identify and recommend appropriate continuous improvement opportunities
  • Contribute technical alternatives
  • Travel required up to 10%
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 60%
Qualifications
Employer will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, or a related field and 4 years of experience in the job offered or in a Sr Software Engineer-related occupation.

Skills required:
  • IT concepts, strategies, and methodologies
  • Diverse and emerging technologies and new architectural concepts and principles
  • Web/microservice design and engineering principles
  • Software development in object-oriented languages including Java and Javascript
  • Programming discipline with each of the following: unit testing, fault tolerance, data structures, complexity analysis, object-oriented principles, and design patterns.
  • Driving platform modernization initiatives including: Java, JavaScript (either in NodeJS or Angular or React framework)
  • Tooling & CI/CD including each of the following: GIT and Bamboo or Jenkins
  • Extensive knowledge in layered systems architecture solutions and designs and shared software concepts
  • Extensive understanding of agile software development concepts and processes
  • Extensive understanding of backlog tracking, burndown metrics, and incremental delivery
  • Travel required up to 10%
  • Telecommuting permitted up to 60%
