Senior Regional Controller

Overview:
The Senior Regional Controller reports directly to the Director of Hotel Accounting. This position will oversee a group of assigned properties and manage the accounting operation which includes but is not limited to the timely and accurate production of financial statements; review and completion of balance sheet and bank reconciliations; support and the creation and distribution of various reporting; onboard new properties; train and mentor staff accountants and Regional Controllers; lead process improvement and automation projects.

Role and Responsibilities:
- Lead and mentor a team of staff accountants fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Manage all accounting operations including daily income journal, AP invoice review, cash flow analysis, process check run, month end closing, balance sheet and bank reconciliations for assigned properties
- Review journal entries prepared by staff accountants
- Assist the Director in reviewing bank reconciliations prepared by staff accountants and Regional Controllers
- Assist the Director in reviewing Balance Sheet reconciliations prepared by Regional Controllers
- Assist the Director in reviewing financial statements prepared by Regional Controllers
- Provide financial guidance and support to the hotel leadership team in reaching financial targets of revenue and expense centers and budgeted capital expenditures
- Collaborate with operation teams to develop budgets and forecasts
- Monitor and reinforce controls to prevent loss or misappropriation
- Support the acquisitions team during due diligence and closing process
- Onboard newly acquired hotels; prepare and record proration and closing entries
- Support VP of Accounting to continuously review processes and procedures to enhance efficiencies within the team
- Assist with external audit requests
- Be prepared to work overtime and/or weekends when necessary to complete all stated deadlines
- Other duties as assigned by the Director or VP of Accounting
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Accounting, Business, or Finance experience
- 5+ years of experience in an area/regional controller role or similar with a demonstrated track record of progressive responsibilities
- Strong software skills, including high proficiency in Microsoft Office (intermediate level in Excel required)
- Strong understanding of GAAP and the Uniform System of Accounting
- Strategic thinking with an innovative mindset
- Committed team player with proven ability to meet and exceed set goals and deadlines
- Exceptional focus and follow-through capability, with a record of efficiency and productivity
- Detail-oriented multi-tasker with exemplary organization and project management skills
