Assistive and Adaptive Technology Coordinator

Days/Hours of Position: 40 hours, Days of the week/hours worked will be based on position requirements / Flexibility required

Primary Purpose:

The Assistive and Adaptive Technology Coordinator at CCARC, Inc. will oversee the integration and implementation of assistive technology tools and resources to support adults with disabilities. This role involves collaborating with staff, clients, DDS, vendors, and their families to ensure that appropriate assistive technology solutions are identified, acquired, and utilized effectively to enhance independence and quality of life for those individuals supported by CCARC. Ensures documentation adheres to the standards set by DDS and the other applicable fiduciary bodies and serves as a resource for staff on best practices for assistive technology use.

Essential Functions:

Assessment and Evaluation:

Conduct community and or in-home based assessments to determine the assistive technology needs of all program participants and adults with disabilities in the communityCompile reports and document all necessary follow up on assessments and training completed.Evaluate and recommend appropriate enabling and assistive technology devices, software, and/or applications that match the individual’s needs.Work closely with colleagues and community partners to assess, develop, and implementinnovative opportunities to address the spectrum of service needs in AT services.

Implementation and Training:

Facilitate the integration of enabling and assistive technology into daily routines and activities of the individuals supported by CCARC, Inc.Provide training and support to not only the individuals served, but also staff, and their families on the use of enabling and assistive technology tools.Collaboration and Support:

Partner with the Service reams at CCARC, Inc. To determine the internal needs for AT assessments amongst the CCARC Programs.Participates in Agency and team meetings, as needed and as requested to assess assistive and adaptive technology needs.Work collaboratively with Program Manager’s, Direct Support Professionals, and other staff to develop and implement person-centered plans that incorporate assistive technologyMonitoring and Maintenance:

Track, analyze, and report on various data sources to demonstrate compliance as well as track trends and identify areas of organizational improvement to provide best practices.Monitor the effectiveness of enabling and assistive technology solutions and make necessary adjustments.Maintain an inventory of enabling and assistive technology devices and ensure they are in good working condition.Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain accurate records of assistive technology assessments, recommendations, and implementation plans.Prepare reports on the utilization and effectiveness of assistive technology within the organization.Policy and Compliance:

Stay current with federal and state regulations related to assistive technology and services for adults with intellectual disabilities.Ensure compliance with all relevant laws, policies, and proceduresEducation:

Remain informed of current technology, how to use it and recommend organizational upgrades and investments.Continue education as needed to maintain certifications and expertise in the field.Other Skills & Competencies:

Computer literate and proficient in Microsoft 365 Suite and be comfortable using tablets and smartphones along with other pieces of enabling/assistive technology.Ability to work with and understand databases a must and the ability to learn technical skills.Ability to work with and learn various pieces of assistive and enabling technology with the goal of increasing each individual’s independence.Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Rehabilitation Engineering, Assistive Technology, Special Education, or a related field (master’s degree preferred). The ability to become certified in Assistive Technology or a related area is strongly preferredMinimum of 3 years of experience working with adults with disabilities (may be substituted with applicable experience).Demonstrates knowledge of assistive technology tools, devices, software, and applications.Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to services for adults with intellectual disabilities.Ability to design and implement training programs.Physical Requirements:

Persons in this job must possess the physical and emotional health needed for effective and efficient completion of dutiesIndividuals in this job are likely to be required to perform lifting and transferring activities and may be required to restrain residents /program participants; may be exposed to risk of injury from abusive/assaultive residents
