Assistant Controller

SUMMARY: The Assistant Controller will support the monthly close process, prepare and analyze financial statements, and be an integral part of the corporate accounting environment to include general ledger analysis, fixed asset accounting, and payroll. This position will provide support for the annual accounting audit and provide support for the Tax and Treasury departments. This position will also provide support for the Internal Control function to include policy and procedural documentation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Prepare workpapers to support the monthly close process and month end balances.
  • Prepare and record journal entries required to accurately reflect monthly activity.
  • Review monthly accounting close process including analytical review of the monthly operating results to ensure accurate accounting records are maintained.
  • Prepare and analyze monthly financial statements.
  • Prepare workpapers to support the annual accounting audit.
  • Prepare workpapers to support the Tax Department.
  • Implement process to record transactions by department and compare costs incurred to budget and performance analysis of profit centers.
  • Review of semi-monthly payroll.
  • Review of expenses incurred on behalf of multiple entities, such as software (MRI) costs, accounting services, analytical services, etc.
  • Support Corporate Controller in the implementation of corporate policies and procedures.
  • Support the transition and implementation to/from Accounting Systems.
  • Implement, document and maintain adequate and effective internal controls.


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position will not have supervisory responsibility.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • Required
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting
  • 7 years of relevant accounting experience in a corporate environment and/or public accounting firm
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills, specifically Excel and Word
  • Solid knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
