Chenega Agile Real-Time Solutions (CARS) is currently looking for a
Software Engineer, Mid-Level
to join our growing team in Gaithersburg, MD.
Duties and Responsibilities:Provide technical leadership and deliver an innovative product, service, or a combination of products and services that address a customer's specific requirements in support of ESRI-based GIS systems.Develop APIs for geospatial data ingest and transmission to external systems using open GIS standards.Provide engineering design input, development, implementation, and sustainment of the mission requirements and enhance overall system security, performance, and availability.Provide documentation of the tools and processes used to build and install the software in the production environment.Provide regular system requirements and capabilities updates to the client, applying current industrial software development best practices that include iterative and incremental project management techniques and agile software development.Interact with members of the technical team leads to understand the current system, subsystems, and component specifications and be able to use experience to recommend changes to facilitate efficient and effective development.Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications: (To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)Bachelor's degree and 4+ years of relevant experience ORAssociate degree and 6+ years of relevant experience ORHigh school diploma or GED equivalent and 8+ years of relevant experienceDemonstrated technical skills in data management and working knowledge of Geospatial Information Systems (GIS).Experience with ArcGIS Server to create and manage GIS Web services, applications, and data.Experience with GeoServer to share, process, and edit geospatial data.Experience with Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) standards-based web services such as Web Map Service (WMS), Web Coverage Service (WCS), Web Feature Service (WFS), Web Processing Service (WPS), and Web Map Tile Service (WMTS).Experience with scripting languages such as JavaScript, PythonSupport the Agile software development lifecycle following Program SAFe practices.Experience with building front-end or back-end Java applications or Django PythonExperience with Java Frameworks (Spring, Hibernate) and RESTful web services.Experience with JavaScript Frameworks and tools.Active TS/SCI clearance
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Ability to obtain CI PolyAbility to work independently and yet be effective within a team settingMust be capable of managing multiple efforts with time-related constraints in a fast-paced contracting environmentDemonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with diverse internal and external stakeholder groups and individualsFriendly presence, helpful attitude, good interpersonal skills, and ability to work well with othersExcellent skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, and other Office applicationsExperience working in a home office setting as well as the ability to train end users on frequently asked technical issuesAbility to provide technical assistance and support over the phone with good phone skills and a professional demeanorPrevious customer service experience strongly desiredGood problem-solving skills with the ability to visualize a problem or situation and think abstractly to solve it
