This tenure-track position is responsible for teaching a variety of courses, fulfilling departmental and university-wide faculty responsibilities, and maintaining an appropriate level of scholarship.The McAfee School of Business (MSB) is an AACSB accredited school with undergraduate, MBA, Master of Accountancy, and Graduate Certificate offerings. Union is consistently ranked among the nation’s premier Christian universities and has been recognized as a top-tier institution each year since 1997 by U.S. News & World Report, which also recognized Union at a national level for undergraduate teaching excellence.InstructionTeach a full-time load of undergraduate and graduate courses (e.g. MBA), in content areas including Data Analytics, Operations/Supply Chain, and Management Information Systems. Other areas of interest could include Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Organizational Behavior, and Human Resources. Instruction responsibilities include: designing curriculum through the development of instructional plans to meet course competencies; the development of activities and assignments which support lesson objectives; the development of critical thinking skills; instruction delivery using both traditional and online methods; and Integration of faith-based principles in courses.Facilitate/guide the progress of students toward achievement of course, program, and career outcomes by clearly planning and defining clear course outcomes and advising students in their career and academic plans.Assign grades and maintain student records in accordance with FERPA regulations. Submit grades and records by established deadlines.Demonstrate interest in the personal and professional growth of students. Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with students. Demonstrate concern for student progress.Maintain regular on-campus office hours as posted on the office door [or Canvas] for student accessibility outside the classroom, providing ample periods of time for counseling and mentoring students in matters related to academic success, life goals, and spiritual development.Complete assigned tasks in a timely manner.Submit budget requests and post textbook information for assigned courses by the posted deadlines.Participate in assessment activities associated with taught courses by collecting data on student learning outcomes when appropriate and engaging in department activities associated with the analysis and application of those data for the purposes of continuous improvement of the program.Professional Development

Pursue scholarly growth on an ongoing basis, within the subject discipline, in the academic profession.Remain current in academic or program discipline, including participation in professional organizations and scholarly activities; attending and presenting at professional conferences meetings, workshops, and/or conventions; and maintaining licensure, certification, or continuing education requirements where appropriate.Maintain appropriate scholarship level and produce published research in peer-reviewed publications towards the maintenance of Scholarly Academic or related status.Continue to develop online teaching methods, including broadening skills using Canvas, Turnitin, Studio, and other virtual classroom tools. Continue to improve online instruction and update content periodically.Service

Participate in the life of the University, which may take the form of sponsorship or chaperonage of student organizations or activities and attendance at academic, cultural, and athletic events.Serve on university committees as assigned and on McAfee School of Business standing or ad-hoc committees, advisory boards, and hiring committees as designated by the dean.Attend departmental, divisional, and college-wide meetings. Participate in faculty business meetings and forums.Participate in religious emphases and activities sponsored by the University for personal enrichment and as an example and encouragement to colleagues and to students, including regular attendance at Chapel services.Mentor and/or assist in orienting new faculty either formally or informally.Be available to faculty and students for consultation in one’s area of expertise.Assist with Pre-Registration, Registration, and New Student Orientation as assigned.Participate in convocation and commencement exercises, as well as other ceremonies appropriate to the faculty member’s discipline or program.Apply Christian standards and attitudes in relationships among cohorts, faculty, staff, and students.Contribute to a positive work climate and the team effort within the school.Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with full and part-time faculty, staff, and all other persons having a direct impact on the program.Required QualificationsDemonstrated evidence of quality teaching and the ability to produce high quality scholarship, primarily in terms of quality peer review journal articles and a robust research agenda or significant professional engagement activities. Graduation from an AACSB accredited college or university with a Ph.D. in management or related field preferred. ABD candidates and those with a related master’s degree and relevant industry experience will also be considered.Preferred QualificationsSuccessful candidates must be professing Christians who are active members of a local church, enthusiastically support Union University’s Identity, Mission, and Core Values, and articulate a Christian worldview in their work and life. While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly required to perform the following:Speaking and hearing ability to sufficiently communicate in person or over the telephone.Walk from office to the classroom and from one campus office to another office/building on campus.Spend extended periods of time sitting and standing with occasional instances of bending and stooping. Classroom and laboratory settings require periods of standing and sitting for the duration of class (1 to 3 hours).Ability to lift and carry files and materials, handle various types of media and equipment, occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, unless otherwise specified.Have adequate vision, hearing, and manual dexterity to read words and numbers and interact with people in person, on the phone, through a computer, and in writing. Requires the ability to identify, observe, and assess visual color discrimination and depth perception.Ability to reach with hands and arms; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls (e.g. mouse, keyboard, telephone, lab equipment). Sufficient hand, arm, and finger dexterity to operate a computer keyboard and other office equipment.
