Bioinformatics Postdoc Position at the Boxer Lab

February 26, 2024 They will lead and perform statistical analyses of high throughput proteomics data (specifically, generated in the SomaLogic platform) by developing computational pipelines, in a highly independent manner. They will need to have a solid understanding and knowledge on how to write and read code to process proteomics datasets, generate reports, and present the results to the rest of the team. They will be expected to lead their own analysis, as well as to collaborate with other team-mates (neuroscientists, physicians, and staff members) in an effort to incorporate the biological perspective to the analysis they are leading. They will directly report to Dr. Adam Boxer but will also receive subject-matter guidance from other members of the lab. Initial projects include proteomics analysis of an existing dataset generated from samples collected under ARTFL LEFFTDS Longitudinal FTLD (ALLFTD), one of our large multicenter natural history studies. Job Requirements: A PhD in Bioinformatics or a related field. Detailed knowledge in statistics and/or mathematics. Proficiency in statistical methods for data analysis. Demonstrated knowledge of AWS. Outstanding proficiency in Python and/or R. Demonstrated proficiency in Bash or other shell scripting. Outstanding proficiency in MatLab. Outstanding proficiency in SQL or other query language. Ability and willingness to adhere to security and data best practices of UCSF and the Memory and Aging Center. Willingness and ability to independently learn and implement new computational methods, and skills for changing research priorities. Ability to work independently, and as a member of a research team. Excellent organizational and interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment. Preferred: Familiarity with SomaLogic data. How to Apply:
