English and Humanities Adjunct

The English and Humanities adjunct instructor provides quality learning opportunities that assist students in meeting their educational goals and career aspirations in the School of Arts and Sciences.Responsibilities:Exhibit an uncompromising commitment to South Piedmont Community College as a learning-centered college through the College’s mission, vision, values, core skills and learning outcomes, and delivery of instruction and servicesDevelop learning strategies and curriculum that will promote successful teaching and learning in a learning-centered environmentFacilitate learning through classroom activities, distance learning experiences, workforce development, and out-of-classroom activitiesActively participate in continuous improvement planning through the assessment of learning outcomes at the course and program levelsSelect and use appropriate learning materials and resources, including library resources, equipment, and supplies to enhance learning and to maintain program currencyStay current with developments in the field of technology and learning theoryDemonstrate high-level professionalism in developing and/or implementing long- and short-range plans in accordance with the philosophy of a learning-centered collegeContinue professional development for the improvement of self and the program to meet the needs of a learning-centered collegeMaintain current licensure, certification, or other professional credentials required for the positionProvide accessibility to students and colleagues as expected in a learning-centered collegeMaintain and submit all required class records and/or reports on timeAccept teaching assignments, based on the needs of the college, at various locations and timesPerform other duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor, the dean, or the Vice President of Academic AffairsRequired Qualifications:A Master’s degree in the teaching discipline OR a completed Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the teaching disciplinePreferred Qualifications:Community college teaching experienceOnline teaching experienceFamiliarity with a course management system such as Moodle
