Dynasty Power is seeking a highly motivated Data Science and Programming Meteorologist to join their expanding team in Calgary, Alberta. We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in modelling and machine learning who is self-motivated and able to learn and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Duties will include (but not limited to) maintaining and building new products related to electricity demand and renewable energy production (Wind, Hydro, Solar) forecasting for specific areas, some of which may involve building or updating existing models.Requirements:An undergrad degree in data science/programming and/or meteorology/atmospheric science (or equivalents) with higher degrees considered an asset.Strong programming skills in Python, SQL, Git, Linux with Experience with object-oriented programmingExperience with data management packages such as NumPy, Pandas, Scikit-Learn and spatial data management using gridded data such as GRIB, NetCDF and GIS software is considered an asset.Energy load and weather forecasting experience outside school considered an asset.Wind, Solar and Hydro forecasting experience considered an asset.Knowledge of the WRF model is considered an asset.Dynasty Power offers a dynamic work environment including gym and meals prepared by a professional chef, a full benefits package, a competitive base, and the best incentive plan in the industry.Dynasty Power is an equal opportunity employer.
