The ideal candidate will have at least 12+ years of R&D and product strategy experience, preferably in consumer products/appliances/HVAC segments. This candidate will work with other cross-functional teams to identify and execute a product strategy for those assigned product categories to include, consumer market research, data analytics, customer and contractor feedback, product safety, quality and advanced development.Essential Job Responsibilities:Help develop and maintain product roadmaps for assigned product categories/families initially including thermostats and mini-splits.Be a project leader and execute all ongoing R&D projects affecting these products.Work with cross-functional teams to identify future project and product needs to innovate, improve products, and increase sales/market share in these categories.Organize and coordinate consumer/contractor research to identify future product roadmap needs.Be responsible for competitive analysis for assigned categories including new innovation, patents, competitive performance and offerings, etc.Summarize product quality and safety findings from cross-functional team members and organize data into future projects.Coordinate impacting regulations with agency engineer to ensure future compliance and strategy changes to meet upcoming regulations.Be a hands-on engineer who can work in the lab to build prototypes and test samples.Work with data scientist to develop product review dashboards for assigned categories to better monitor reviews, pain points, sentiment, etc. & organize data so that it can easily turn into future projects.Monitor quality returns and safety allegations with quality/safety engineering team & prioritize any necessary product changes that need to be made.Understand international product and feature offerings on these categories & work with sales/marketing teams to develop strategy of migrating existing features/products to North American market.Be a product innovation champion to help drive future R&D efforts & lead those projects into production.Maintain excellent communication with global colleagues including taking occasional weekend/evening calls or meetings, helping track project milestones, deliverables, action items, etc.Qualifications:Bachelors degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering.12+ years engineering experience, preferably in consumer electronics/appliances/HVAC segments.Familiarity with standard consumer research methodologies & practices.Goal-oriented & self-managed.Excellent communication & organization skills.Ability to thrive in a collaborative team-environment.Be a self-starter with excellent organization skills.Preferred Qualifications:Masters degree in engineering, preferably Mechanical Engineering or MBA.EPA 608 certified.History of working with global colleagues.Featured benefits:Medical insuranceVision insuranceDental insurance401(k)Ability to travel domestically & internationallyMidea America Corp, is an equal opportunity employer.
