*This position is located in Dublin, OH*Primary DutiesThis position will be responsible for troubleshooting and repairing fiber plant for both Installs and Repairs within the Field Operations I&R groupReviewing and interpreting work orders, circuit diagrams and following departmental standard practicesReviewing and analyzing complex schematic drawings to determine work to be done and sequence of tasksUses various test and power equipment, and hand tools to identify and isolate service issues from the Central Office through the outside network plant including within the customer premiseResponsible for installation and repair of fiber to the Business servicesInstall and repair video, voice, and data services for strategic, large, and general businessesPerforms installation and repair functions for Broadband service and WIFI HotspotsMust be skilled in the turn-up and maintenance of routers, bridges, hubs, access points, and other CPE elements used in data networkingPerforms installation and repair of Static IP, IP assignment, and related managementResponsible for installation and repair of wired and wireless networkingVarious business services and features can be involved, such as hunting, Line/Number Porting, etc.May install fiber connections in the central office and/or fiber connections in the fiber environmentWill be required to work on various system power components including but not limited to: batteries, power supplies, and invertersMay be required to install, turn-up, repair, and maintain MDU ONT in various locations including but not limited to: outside plant and on customer premiseTurn-up FTTH OLT network elements Turn-up FTTH PONS from CO to FDHRepair and maintain FTTH network elements and linksResponsible for the permanent repair of cut and damaged cables through fiber splicing proceduresResponsible for installation and repair of fiber from Central Office to PremiseReceives and interprets repair and install assignments using a tablet and/or laptop computerRepairs Fiber conductors in aerial, buried, underground cable environments as well as customer owned inside wireResponsible for Fiber No Light repairResponsible for B-wire process and repairAdheres to all Company safety standards and protocolsInterfaces with repair center technicians and other support groups to resolve customer problemsUtilizes various test and power equipment, and hand tools to identify, isolate and install service issues in the outside network from the Central Office to the customer premiseMay be required to be dispatched on repairs and installations of residential High Speed Internet and Video services in the networkExperience/BackgroundDemonstrated experience in the installation/repair of business communication and data systems to include but not limited to phone systems, voice mail platforms, and office LAN'sDemonstrated experience in the installation or repair of VOIP systemsDemonstrated experience in customer premise inside wire repair and replacementDemonstrated experience in use of test equipment and interpretation of test resultsDemonstrated experience in the repair of High Speed Internet and video servicesDemonstrated experience in an assignment requiring significant customer interactionDemonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a team environmentDemonstrated experience in use of a PC and desktop applicationsDemonstrated experience with wired and wireless networkingPrerequisitesExperience in test equipment that isolates and locates outside plant cable troubleExperience in customer contact positionPole climbingKnowledge of telephony wiring and the ability to perceive differences in wiring colorPhysical Requirements; able to lift heavy loads up to 85 lbs.Safety Requirements: safety shoes; weight restriction policy appliesSatisfactory performance ratingSatisfactory attendance record in last twelve monthsKnowledge of Company products and services a plusKnowledge of volt/ohm meters and other various pieces of test equipmentClimbs poles and drives company vehicleMay be required to cross train othersWork EnvironmentWork location: variousWorks in all types of weatherWorks in all types of customer environmentsMay work 8-hour or 10-hour tours - including non-traditional tours: May work day, evening, night or weekend tours, overtime, emergency callouts, weekends and holidaysClimbs poles in order to perform repair work on aerial cable facilitiesMust be trained and/or certified in safe pole climbingMay work aloft for extended periods of timeMay be required to quality for #10,000 GVW CDL CertificationAltafiber :
