DLR Group is currently offering a compelling opportunity for a Staff Attorney to join our in-house Legal team.Location

This role is available in Los Angeles, where about 10% of the firm’s national staff is based, constituting about half of the firm’s 300 California employees. Candidates interested in our Riverside, San Diego, Sacramento, and San Francisco locations will also be considered. Other locations outside of California where the firm maintains a large office may be considered.Position Summary

We are looking for a Staff Attorney that has experience relating to architecture, engineering, construction (“AEC”) and design-build in the public and private sector. As a Staff Attorney, you will provide support with regard to design contract review and negotiation, dispute resolution and some other general legal matters.The Successful Candidate Will

Review and negotiate Owner-Architect, Design Builder-Architect and Architect-Consultant Agreement using AIA, DBIA and client originated forms of contract.Direct the legal response to disputes, including evaluation, direct negotiation, mediation, litigation or arbitration and settlement.Support negotiation of additional services fee claimsManage outside litigation counsel in connection with active disputes.Organize and manage documents and information related to discovery.Analyze negligence allegations relating to change orders, delay and lost efficiency.Assist in collection of delinquent accounts receivable.Provide advice regarding other general legal matters, including employment, non-AEC contracts, and corporate governance.Present internal education programs relating to legal concerns.Required Qualifications

Juris Doctorate and admission to a state bar, preferably California4-10 years of legal experience, with emphasis on litigation, of matters relating to the architecture, engineering or construction industry within a law firm, an in-house legal department, or a professional liability insurer.Experience with risk assessment associated with AEC contracts.Strong analytical and oral and written communication skills.Ability to work independently, efficiently and effectively.Some day and overnight travel, mostly within California, but on occasion to other locations nationwide.
