SUMMARY : Reporting directly to the Accounting and Finance Supervisor, the Staff Accountant is responsible for maintenance of all general ledger accounts, and supports payroll processing, month-end close and financial reporting.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

include the following:

General Accounting

Prepare and post monthly cost allocations;Reconcile and maintain balance sheet accounts;Conduct monthly account reconciliations to ensure accurate reporting and ledger maintenance;Prepare and post monthly journal entries;Assist with monthly closings and preparation of monthly financial statements;Assist with preparation of monthly financial reports;Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable;Assist in budgets and forecasts;Assist with payroll administration;Assist with preparation and coordination of the audit process;Assist with implementing and maintaining internal financial controls and procedures;Monthly expense variance analysis;Month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing;Ensure accuracy of financial statements in accordance with GAAP and compliance to internal policies;Manage Fixed Assets;Responsible for assisting the Accounting Manager on special projects;Other ad-hoc accounting duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

CORE COMPETENCIES:Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline-driven environment;Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills;Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty;The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work product;Must possess strong leadership and interpersonal skills; detail-oriented with superb organizational and time management skills;Demonstrated customer service skills; ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, vendors, and customers.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or accounting from an accredited college or university and 2-5 years related accounting/contract experience (a combination of qualifying education/experience may be considered);Minimum of 2-5 years in accounting/grant administration experience is preferred;Mastery of MS Excel;Experience with Deltek Costpoint and ADP Workforce Now highly preferred.OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Personal computer literacy required, including effective use of the Internet, e-mail, video conferencing (Zoom, Teams) and other Microsoft Office Products (Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
