The BHPD values its reputation as an agency that earns the public's trust through efficient, impartial police service.What We're Looking forThe City of Beverly Hills Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Pre-Service Police Officer.The Pre-Service Police Officer position is entry-level, and Pre-Service Police Officers shall serve as non-sworn civilian employees until such time as they successfully graduate from the Police Academy and are sworn in as a Police Officer. These pre-service employees shall receive similar benefits as a sworn police officer with the exception of retirement and workers' compensation benefits.The Police Department has an Equal Employment Opportunity Plan (EEOP). Employment with the City requires the affirmation of a loyalty oath to this effect. Employees are required to complete all Disaster Service Worker-related training as assigned and to return to work as ordered in the event of an emergency.Performs duties to protect life and property.Maintains law and order and responds to emergency calls.May patrol the City enforcing the criminal and traffic laws of the City, State, and Nation.May perform investigations or training duties.A.A. Degree or completion of at least 45 degree units at the time of testing and the commitment to complete an A.A. Degree or 60 units during the probationary period. The A.A. degree or 60 units requirement must be met before permanent status may be attained. The probationary period will not be extended to provide additional time to meet this qualification.At the first step of the background investigation and prior to the release of the background investigation packet, you will be required to submit proof that you meet the minimum education requirement in the form of an A.A./B.A./B.S./ diploma, transcript, letter from the registrar or other document approved by the Human Resources Department.Minimum 20.5 years of age by the written examination date.Must be a citizen of the United States of America or a lawful permanent resident at the time of application.At the time of appointment, a valid California Driver's License is required.
