for qualified lateral police officers.

Lateral Police Officer must have a minimum of one year of satisfactory full-time employment as a sworn officer in a Municipal, County or State Police Department within the State of California. Possession of a valid California Basic P.O.S.T. certificate is required. Must be a United States Citizen.

What We're Looking for

The City of Beverly Hills Police Department is seeking highly motivated and qualified candidates for the position of Lateral Police Officer. The lateral Police Officer performs duties to protect life and property within the city, maintain law and order, and respond to emergency calls.

Duties may include, but are not limited to:

Patrol assigned areas of the City by car, motorcycle, bicycle, or on foot to preserve law and order, discover and prevent commission of crimes, and enforce laws and ordinances.Respond to calls for the protection of life and property, including general public service calls and complaints.Conduct initial and follow-up investigations at scenes of incidents.Prepare and serve search and arrest warrants; apprehend and arrest offenders.Direct traffic at emergencies and events.Serve as a liaison and public relations officer for the assigned area.Contact and cooperate with other law enforcement agencies.Perform a variety of administrative duties in support of law enforcement services.Prepare reports on shift activities, operations, and incidents.Testify in court and hearings.Assume responsibility for the care and custody of detained individuals.Administer CPR, NARCAN, and first aid in emergencies.Conduct chemical, drug, and alcohol testing.Respond to questions and concerns from the public.Develop and maintain positive relations with the community.Participate in continuous training to develop law enforcement skills.Experience and Training

Any combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.

License and Certificate

Possession of a valid California driver's license and satisfactory driving record. Possession of First Aid and CPR certificates.

Other Requirements

Must be a citizen of the United States of America, or a lawful permanent resident, at the time of application. Must be 21 years of age at the time of appointment.
